Well, Steam is dropping Ubuntu support...

Would it? Whether you can run Steam client on ubuntu is irrelevant to whether you can run games compiled from GM (which had already moved to x64 to avoid potential issues like this)

I was referring more so to developers who wanted to publish their GMS titles on Steam. Being able to export and run games would obviously still be fine for 2.x users.
