Viewports work weirdly in this one room

I am relatively new to GMS2 so I will try to explain this the best I can.
In one room, the viewport works exactly how I want it. It keeps the character in the centre whilst also keeping the camera moving. In another room, it lets the character get to the very edge of the screen before moving, thus not allowing the player to see where they are going.

I have tried using the same viewport and a different one.
The first room is the usual room dimensions except is it longer
The second room is scaled up around 3 times.

Thanks

i donno about gms2 but in 1.4.9999 i am constantly forgetting to have the view follow the player box checked and view active when room starts...

sometimes it the most simplest of things that throws us off ;o)

Iterate through all rooms and set them using GML, then you don't have to worry about setting them at all.
This is best done in an "init" room which does all the setup before moving to your real first room.

It is set to follow the player. The view does follow them, they just don't remain in the center and it lets them move to the very end of the view before moving
