has anyone also noticed that you made an app update then the number of installs started to decrease..

now say new update made using a newer version of game maker...would this affect things?

trying to understand why that could happen. when you make a new update does that no increase exposure of the app, i.e in recently updated section. so you should get more installs?

It depends if the changes you made actually improved the game. Updates are not always well-received by players, and they are certainly not a guarantee of additional traffic/exposure.

Hard to say exactly - you'd really have to run tests to determine things. I've wondered if updating an app has a (positive/negative) effect on Google Play (or other store) rankings, but not entirely sure.

Of course depending on the update your total devices supported, and other things could change. There are a lot of factors that could be involved.

One nice feature they give now is the ability to only roll an update out to a certain percentage of users, along with other methods such as A/B testing - using these tools could help determine better what things are effecting your install rate, along with user retention, etc.
