@Rui Rosário - I want to offer a prize for both the 8th and the 17th place in the GMC Jam (not arbitrary, although it might look like it). For the prize itself, I offer my programming skills for one of:
  • A simple DLL (written in C, source code and build instructions supplied, will only be tested on Windows platforms);
  • A simple GML extension/module (area of domain can vary, but there are some areas of GameMaker I don't really use so there are some potential restrictions);
  • Refactoring an existing GML code module (small to medium scale);
  • A Java based project (not Android module related, as I don't have it);
  • Other (I have other programming skills, so if none of the above seem enticing then we can align on what exactly would be offered);
  • Prize is redeemable until the discussion topic for the next jam gets created.
Decided to add a simple prize to the prize pool since it was looking rather empty

Hi everybody! I'm just finding some stuff on a phrase guesser thing online.

Okay that's enough guesses.

Bells and Whistles
Going the Distance
Quick and Painless
Speak for yourself

Okay seriously I'm done.

Would there be any entry that fits the theme then? 🤔
Surprisingly, I think yes. Despite lots of entries turning out to be unfinished and unpolished, there are also entries - often finished ahead of time - with all loose ends tied (except maybe for a few non-breaking bugs).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think FrostyCat's entries in particular are consistently complete/wrapped up.

(note that a complete entry might still lack in fun factor or have some subjectively bad design decisions, but otherwise they're pretty much what the developer envisioned)

A few tries:

Code:
world change later
world change first
world change often
world change right

world reduce later
world reduce often

world become still
world remain still

child follow about

group change often
group remain still

event change often

place change often
place remain still

level reduce later
level remain still
level design never // I can win this one

This reads like a list of jam themes from the planet of the apes.

World... change... later...

Child... follow... about...

:D
Just trying to cover a wide range of possibilities, and the best way to do that is to use imperfect English (I know I would if I chose the theme, an extra layer of difficulty)

Hmm. Maybe first word is Their or there?
Their coming close
Their always close
There aren't walls

I feel like there or their could definitely be the first word and the second could be (given Dan's sometimes hidden apostrophes haha):
Wasn't
Weren't
Aren't

Story driven games would be cool. I would just be afraid of most of them have a star wars story crawl then having a basic arcade experience.

Right. As much as I like story driven games in general (moreso than games without much of a story), I wouldn't like "story driven games" as a theme.
I'd imagine the usual outcome being either:
- a game belonging to one of relatively few story-heavy genres (visual novels, adventures and such), limiting the genre, or
- an awfully generic game that has some storyline slapped on it (which many games do even without the prompt)

Or maybe it's "games-driven story"...? 🤔

I guess the following can be ruled out already:

THEME DOESN'T APPLY

So that means the theme must be something else, for example:

LARGE LIVELY WORLD

It's a bit hard to make educated guesses for now, too many possibilities.

Some theme guesses...

DOGS IN OUTERSPACE
FELINES OF JUPITER
UNICORNS AND FROGS
MUST HAVE TUTORIAL
LAVAPOOLS OF DEATH
DEFEAT ALL ENEMIES
BORING AND GLITCHY
As someone who hates tutorials in games, it would be super fun to make an impossible tutorial game.
Or just super patronizing for every action they do.

I wonder, if maybe it's about time for a theme letter reveal? ^^'
There are 12 days left until the Jam, and a 5-6-5 letter words combination can be pretty much anything (to the point where I could find a fitting theme for each game in the previous Jam, as demonstrated earlier).
Would be nice to have at least one letter to narrow things down... somewhat.

^ That would be nice indeed.

The clue shows that the theme is "symmetrical", maybe that's an actual part of the clue itself. Or it could be a comparison of some sort, using "versus" as the middle word. That could look something like this:

"LIGHT VERSUS HEAVY"
"SOLID VERSUS FLUID"
"HEADS VERSUS TAILS"
"BLACK VERSUS WHITE"
...

A comparison of "X VERSUS Y", where X and Y could be the same word but could be entirely different too. Both can be either singular or plural.

Still think their or there.

Their making plans
No one has pointed it out yet, but "Their" isn't the correct word in that sentence or a few of your previous examples. It's a possessive term.
'They're making plans' would be correct. Or 'making their plans.'
