A Ghost Adventure by Nexusrex
Another really nice game that was waaaaaaay too short! Serioursly, I'd have played another ten levels of this game. The body switching mechanic is really really good, and has the potrential for some fiendish level design. GFX and SFX were okay, but nothing special and presentation was okay too.
A long time after by poncle
Nice little game... very simple but I liked the meta concept behind it and the excution was good. The share/replay options were a really great touch.
Afterstory by David Chen, Moxxin, Adam Twite
Idea good, and the visual aspect was excellent. However the slow movement and the fact it crashed when I got through the barrier means it loses points in presentation, sorry.
Alone by CoderJoe
Cool game, with nice gameplay and fairly solid feel. Hit boxes were a bit off (sometimes a zombie would make the hit sound but not actually damage me) and the controls a bit fiddly, but still well made and fun.
antideath by Yokcos
Great concept but way too difficult too early... The level select screen/first fight area is confusing too as it looks like the level select screen since there is no background or something? Anyway, that's the bad, the good is that I loved the idea of the game and having it so that as you revive people it actually increases the difficulty is a fun and original mechanic. If only it had a better balance as I found even level 1 tough as hell!!!!
Ask Death by Detective Pixel
Ha! Not really a game so no marks for gameplay... Concept was fun I suppose and some of the phrases that it created were rather amusing, but it didn't really fit the theme in any way, and it has no sound nor intro nor anything other than the simple phrase generator. Still, it was good for a few minutes of chuckles!
Bone Crusher by chance
A physics based game from chance? What a suprprise...
Jokes apart, the game is good fun. The concept is great, gfx are great, presentation is great.... but... so few levels!!!! Another couple of levels with a bit more progression would have made this a top 3 entry for me I think.
Broken World by Zerb Games
I REALLY wanted to like this game.... but I couldn't. Iliked the GFX and the effects, I liked shooting bouncy bullets around, I liked killing things and being hit and becoming like a phatom... but the collision detection was TERRIBLE and I got sooooo annoyed getting stuck in walls. And the lack of any explanation as to what is going on meant that it was difficult to work out any type of startegy. Good effort, with interesting ideas, but let down by the collisions....
Buried At Sea by ZombieLawyer
This game has promise but at the moment it feels veryt rough around the edges... it has depth issues and text issues with drawing, and an overall lack of content. The basic idea is good, and with far more varied events and a few extra gameplay elements to keep the players interest it could be a great game though.
Clone Runners by Cameron
While the theme is nowhere to be found and the game has no instructions, playing this basic puzzle game was still fun (and I managed to finish it)... Graphically it needs a lot of work, as does the level design and interface, but it seems a great protoype for a future more polished game.
Comet See the World 50 Yrs Hence by ConsolCWBY
Well that was an experience! I have no idea what I was I was doing nor how the puzzles to open the cage were supposed to work... I just either clicked randomly until the cages were unlocked or hit escape which unlocked them instantly, then walk to the right and repeat. So, not sure what I
should have been doing really...
Story was okay, graphics were "programmer art" and fun, but the whole thing lacked polish. Still, interesting at least...
Dance With Death by nvrogers
This seemed a bit buggy... The titles took forever to pass and kind of flashed at the end, and then you were just dropped into the game. Since I'm crap at danmaku games, I died in a second and then didn't respawn...
GFX were quite nice though.
Dead Zone by Carnivius
Fantastic game. Seriously, amazing... The presentation was perfect, the graphics were perfect, and the gameplay was simple but fun and challenging (although slightly bugged...
). I don't think I have anything else to say about this... great job!
Deadly Desire by GhostlyFeline, Misu
Great little game. Everything worked really well and I loved the character design. Very short though, and I REALLY wanted to be able to choose between the two sides and see two different endings... WHICH DOES HE CHOOSE DAMMIT?
DEADZONE by Cat, var
This game was incredibly frustrating... Basically the grey on grey graphics made it very difficult to actually see what was going on, and the massive explosions when you are hit cover up what you can see even more making it really frustrating to play. The controls were smooth, and the lighting lovely, and the different gameplay mechanics (like the inventory) seemed really well done, but I couldn't enjoy it. Different coloured sprites for things would have scored this MUCH higher for me...
Dearelict by Yal
Hmm... Not sure I liked this or not. I like the concept and the 3D was certainly well done, but I'm not sure I had any fun actually playing it. I should say that I couldn't finish it either as I got stuck in the "hedge" maze, even though you can jump over the hedges and look around I couldn't find any way to continue.... anyway, nicely done, but lacks polish and didn't seem much fun sadly.
Death's Salesman by zn_pete, Daniel Navarro, wilix95
Another game that reminds me of cluedo... But that's no bad thing! The game was quite well thought out and fun to play, although a bit easy as, in general, it was obvious which text options to follow. That said, choosing deliberatly to play again and pick the worst was fun too! Graphics okay, music okay, gameplay good, presentation okay, Solid game.
Desert Lands by Nallebeorn
I liked this game a lot.... the controls were a bit "floaty" and took some getting used to, but other than that everything worked great, looked great and played great. I loved the monochrome graphics and the shooting mechanic was really fun., and the game fit the theme perfectly.
Devil's Mansion by Joh
Great game! Very nice to see something different being done, and this worked and played really well. I loved Cluedo as a kid, so this took me back... Presentation was fantastic (the highlighters for text was a really nice touch) and the actual game was intriguing and nice graphically. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the music was NOT suited to the gameplay, and I missed having sound effects for clicking and moving stuff, etc... Other than that though, really, really good.
EiD by Nocturne
My own game, so no comments...
Everybody is Dead by iTzCallumUK
I don't know if this game is broken or I just couldn't find the keys, but there appeared to be no way to do anything other than go left/right or climb ladders. No jump, no shoot, and no way to avoid the zombies at all. Presentation was okay, gfx were okay, but I can't sday much else as it was impossible to get anywhere while playing.
Everyone Is Dead by dadio
What can I say... It's an obra-maestra of understatement and artistic integrity. -5 stars!
Everything's Gone to Hell by TehPilot
Great game! Fantastic! It has everything.... good story, good graphics, functional sound, a great design, and even manages to mix in some great polished details (I loved the way Satan gets buried in corpses!) and the effects like the room transition and subtle particles etc... really added to the overall "finished game, not Jam game" feel. Seriously good entry... at the end I was like "Only 9 levels?
".
EvoBio by felixpf
Okay, I have NO idea what's going on in this game. None. Zero. I can move a purple thingy around and push other purple thingies and that's it? No idea how it relates to the theme, no idea what I'm supposed to to...
Fall Harvest Season by BlessHayGaming
Great entry. Lovely graphics, interesting and fun gameplay, great presentation and used the theme! What more could you ask for? Well done!
Final Shelter by The M
Great game. Presentation was excellent, and the game even has a full set of options for playing (vegan mode was a nice touch!). The mash of tower defese elements with arena shooter worked really well, and the game was fun and challenging to play. Great job!
Forgive Me For Living by Lonewolff
Loved the loading screen, but not the gameplay...
Everything looks okay, but the fact that the police shoot so often and the bullets actually skim the ground makes it impossible to play for more than a few seconds before dying. Jump doesn't help much as you still have to go down a level to actually hit who's shooting making it all very frustrating. Nice presentation, nice graphics, good sound, but very, very frustrating...
Four Versus the World by NAL
What can I say about htis? Amazing presentation, really, really polished interface and gameplay, but ultimately... boring? Okay, the caves sections are more interesting but once you've seen one you've seen them all, and the rest of the gameplay is just too random to be that much fun... and the actual driving part was just boring. So, sorry, I din't really much like this although I
wanted to like it given that the whole thing looks so lovely.
Game Engine Test by Misty
A+ for effort in using 3D but it was glitchy as hell! Controls were horrible and very "floaty", and tbh, after a few minutes of playing I started to feel a bit motion sick... I also fell through the floor a number of times! So, I didn't enjoy this much, sorry.
Ghost Butler by ShadowLancer, Shameless
Not quite sure that the link to the theme here is very obvious, but other than that the game is pretty good. I loved the hand drawn graphics and the gameplay was simple but fun.
ghost town by porcupinester
Loved this game! it has so much to it, and is really polished with a bit of an "Undertale" vibe to it. Uses the theme, has puzzles, has action, has humour, has an excellent presentation and great use of sound and music. Very, very well done, and definintely one of the best games in the Jam.
GMCity Carnage by Snail Man
I think this is the most fun game that I've played of the Jam so far (and just because I'm in it...
). Seriously, the game is great fun and the upgrade options and four different weapon types were brilliant. I liked the way they were essentially difficulty levels, although I did find using Dan was practically impossible! Graphically it could have been better, but that's a very minor quibble, and I can see myself playing this again.
Grave Trigger by Dark
Someone likes Devil Daggers!!!
Not sure exactly what the tie to the theme is, nor what the story is (Story? Who needs a story!) but with gameplay like this, who cares? It's a slick little 3D arena shooter that was fun to play!
Grey Fall by Morne, Bernard, Marius
Nice concept but not much fun to play I'm afraid. I found it rather buggy, with the player often unable to reach trees due to the way that holes and ladders are created, making it almost impossible to play for more than a minute without having to Nuke and start again. Graphically it was nice, and the sounds were appropriate, though and with more content it
would be a fun game.
Grim Reaper's Last Job by Ehrgeiz, Mortalo
Nice little game but like so many this time around TOO SHORT! Seriously, I loved this but only 3 levels left me wanting more... Great design, lovely graphics, fun gameplay, nice presentation.... it lacks sound, but that's a minor detail. Really good entry.
HackMan by AT, SA
Not at all sure where this game uses the theme... but that doresn't mean it's not a good game cause it is! Really original gameplay and I found it fun and challenging to dodge around the tracks. The little red balls got me every time, but I'm sure with practice I'll learn how to dodge them! Presentation was basic, but clean, and the GFX and sound worked well.
Half Hearted by DocNogloff
Lovely little game with a fun mechanic and some nice humour. The player moved a bit slow and I felt that the graves had slightly too little time, and while I like a challenge, this was just a bit too much for me! Still, a nice rounded game and fun to play.
Jumpship Cyrus by Brenbruyn, harukiya
What a great and complete game! The gameplay is similar to what I was going for in my own Jam game, but this is far more finished (and polished to an insane degree for such a short timespan). Really good gameplay, really tight controls, graphically and sonically lovely... seriously, a great game and one of the few I can see myself playing again!
KATT by KaShuen
Ummm... I can't really rate this too highly... was waaaaay too difficult to start with, didn't really use the theme, and wasn't much fun to play. On the plus side, it was bug free and the presentation was okay.
Last Hope by HayManMarc, zminusone
Is there a win state for this game? It doesn't look like it, which is a shame... The game has a solid feel to the mechanics (nice controls, simple gameplay) and visually it's pretty good to with some really nice music that fits the setting and gameplay well. I did find it weird that even after you clear the building the zombies keep spawning outside but you don't get any ammo respawns, so after killing about 60+ zombies you are pretty much screwed. Still, it was a short bit of fun while it lasted and I can see this being a great game if the devs continue to work on it.
Last Stand by Jett
This game was really difficult to master... the concept was great , but I found the controls quite fiddly and I felt that the dificulty was a bit too high to start with. Graphically it was very nice and the sound/music fit the game well. though.
Lonely by johnwo
Interesting game this... Not at all what I expected. Really well presented and I loved the concept. It was slightly annoying to get stuck in a story loop (ideally, each option would lead to a unique set of subsequent options), but that's a minor quibble. It uses the theme really well, and it has loads of replayability thanks to the multiple endings too (which is rare in a Jam game). Really good work!
Lonely Drone by GameDevDan
Fantastic game! Everything about it was quality with some lovely touches to just raise the bar a bit more. The flavour text and attention to detail plus the great use of the theme and some lovely GFX make this another one for my top 3 games of this Jam.
Love is Life by rui.rosario
I liked this game quite a lot... The bad bit is the music (I see why it is off by default!) and the lack of sound effects, and the gameplay gets a bit repetitive after a while. BUT, the concept is cute, I like the creative use of the theme, and the actual gameplay mechanic is simple yet challenging to play. Good game!
Monty goes to town by Spliffium
It's snake but with blood and guts! Okay, so, the game is pretty good, with adequate graphics and pretty good gameplay. I missed having music while playing and it's missing a certain polish around the menu screens, but overall it's fun and nicely done. I would however make a chgange to the people that you have to eat as the random movement means that you can sometimes be chasing down just one or two for AGES to complete the level. Other than that, this is a solid entry... who doesn't love snake?
Mortal Metanoia by Mattie, Murzy
Wow... It's missing sound effects, but let's be honest here, WHO CARES??? This is an amazing game, and it's polished to an extremely high degree (in fact it's possibly the most polished game in this Jam!). Really nice controls with solid platforming and shooting mechanics, beautiful graphics, and great music. Any complaints? Ummm... The grenade launcher weapon is a pain to use? Too short? Nah... nothing to complain about here really.
My Dragon Pal by Zodaris
Ha! This is pretty good fun! I love that you can dive down and actually eat the people not just burn them to a crisp! The graphics were good and functional and the sound/music fit the game well. The gameplay was a bit simple, but it's a full game and fun to play and pretty well polished. Well done!
My My My Charona by Electros
Another lovely little game. It's marred by the lack of any sound, but the gameplay is orginal and VERY easy to master. It also fits the theme, has a nice presentation and the GFX were fitting and nicely done.
Noalle's Ark by shadowspear1
Aaaaaaand another sickeningly well made game with an insane amount of polish!!!!! Dammit, why can't my Jam games be like this? Anyway, yeah, great game! Loved the cute graphics, the music was perfect and the gameplay was really, really fun. I loved the mechanics of the game. although I did get a bit annoyed by the slow shooting speed and when people died "just because". Like sometimes they'd be on three health and the next shot would just kill them making it impossible to save everybody (maybe that was intentional?), but other than that this was a great game.
Nothing But Static by zircher
Good game... It really needed a bit more of an explanation/start screen, but once you get what is going on it was quite fun. The sheer number of enemies coming at you means that you never feel that you can "win" this game, so it's just a question of surviving for as long as possible, which is fine. GFX and SFX were good, as was the actual gameplay.
Nothing Ventured by NeoTalon
Okay, I've played 40+ games so far and this is the first real "WTF?!?!?" moment I've had... I have no idea what message this game was trying to get across, and there was no gameplay to speak of, but it's one of the few games this Jam that I've managed to "finish"! Seriously, wtf? I mean... wtf? The little player sprite was cool in a minimalist sort of way though...
One Last Bite by NightOwl35
No idea what happened here... I couldn't play this one. Title screen came up and I could move the cursor up and down but no matter which key I pressed nothing would happen. I pressed every single key on the keyboard and nothing. I clicked the mouse. Nothing. I tried my gamepads. Nothing. So, sorry, no votes...
Phantomatics by Otyugra
This game was an odd one... at first I was a little "wtf", but once I fullscreened it (it starts WAY to small for my monitor) and actually got back in to the hang of the retro gameplay, I really like it. Sadly there are no more than a couple of levels and that left me sad, as I'd have happily played a few more and would love to see this expanded upon with new mechanics for later stages... A really solid entry, with fitting GFX and sound, decent presentation and a nice concept.
Pixel Paracide by WRLCK
Ha! Really fun game! Loved the gameplay and the GFX, sound was adequate and the presentation was simple but nice. It's let down by the weak use of the Jam theme and a weak story, but as a snake-like game it's excellent and great fun.
Planet Dreth by Mocgames998
Really cool game. Maybe not the best GFX in the world (I loved the ms-paint main character though!), but they actually worked really well... the music and sound effects were well chosen too, and the gameplay itself was good with some solid platforming. Overall a very decent Jam game!
Regret by Miner7365
Cute game, well presented but waaaaaaay to short and with no real challenge.... Not much else to say really.
Rest in Peace by Blake
Nice little puzzle game... Graphically good, with a lovely presentation and fits the theme well. My one complaint would be all the clicking you have to do, when it could have been avoided by simply having pop-ups on mouse over. Minor complaint though and this is a very solid entry.
Revival Of The Undead Princess Satsuka by Aura, Rusty
Good effort, with a nice polished feel. Graphics and sound were good, but I found the gameplay somewhat repetitive.
Save the Last Human by Moon Goat
Another arena shooter, and another with some great things and some terrible things! Graphics and controls were great, but the game is let down by really dodgy hit box detection making shooting a very "hit and miss" affair, and the worm things spawn so rapidly that it was impossible to get anywhere, especially as they'd "teleport" through walls. Even if you clear an area around the human, you can't leave it as the wormm things would suddenly teleport through a wall and kill them!!! And if you can't leave the human you can't kill the spawners so more of them come at you and more of them teleport through the walls... could have been fun, but wasn't, sorry.
Scared to Death by Ixlegraw
Nicely designed and thought out with a mechanic that is pretty unique. Maybe a bit too tough from level 3 onwards as you have to juggle quite a few things, and the music (while atmospheric) started get on my nerves after a minute or so of playing, but still a good wee game.
Silent Road by JackOatley
This game is okay... not great, not bad, just okay. For an infinite runner type game I liked the idea, but it just didn't "grab" me. I think the double punishment for hitting zombies (loss of HP and it makes it harder to see) was a bit unfair, and the spawning of the zombies made it sometimes impossible to avoid them. Good effort, nicely executed, but just not great, imho.
Soulgrab by RekNepZ
Couldn't play this game I'm afraid. So, not even going to give it a score as I can't judge. On startup I enter a world name and hit enter and it crashes with "File is not opened for reading.
at gml_Object_obj_genload_Create_0".
Spooky Jam by kepons
Interesting choice of gameplay for this one... no real relation to the theme other than skeletons, but graphically okay. However nothing I could do would ever let me hit the "notes". No matter when I pressed a key it just didn't seem to detect that the note was correct. I tried dozens of times and just couldn't get even one note right!!! Don't know if I just suck or if the game is broken...
Territory Earth by Wraithious
Well that was surreal... Not sure what to make of this. Interesting? I liked the idea of using photos to make the backgrounds, and the game concept is good too. The sound got really anoying though, and the general presentation is lacking a bit of polish. Still, an interesting game!
The Aftermath by Tselmek, zminusone
Great idea, nice executuion, theme well used.... but the lack of any real point to the game means it loses a few points. If the flavour text had been more interesting and the actual choice of heaven/hell would have had some relevance at the end then I'd have given this full marks.
The Dark Within by aamatniekss
This game has some lovely graphics and an interesting story to it., as well as a great presentation. The world flipping mechanic was really well done too. However I did find it all a bit too slow. Oh and it crashes if you try to skip the intro too fast! Still, a nice little game that was fairly fun to play.
The Equation of Life by Ghandpivot
Interesting game... and quite fun to play! I managed to get to the snow level but just couldn't get past that at all.
GFX adequate, sound adequate (although the music didn't seem to fit the game much, but at least it wasn't annoying!), gameplay simple and fun, with a pretty decent presentation.
The Last Ghost by Coolbot4k
I really loved this. Very cute, very polished, and very fun. If I had to complain about anything it's that night time needs a "skip to dawn" button, as often you don't want to do anything at night r have finished mining ore and just have to wait till the game timer ticks down. That's a very minor complaint and this game rocks in all departments. Looks good, sounds good, is well thought out and is a great take on the tower defense genre.
The Last Space Luchador by Siolfor the Jackal, Bandido Burrito
That was rather silly... but fun and the mechanics were well thought out and executed. The ragdoll physics on the body was good and I liked the puzzles that used them. Shame you couldn't have added a few more levels, but the game shows promise and I hope you keep working on it.
The Major Forces by Lizzard
Fun and challenging and nicely presented. While the actual game mechanic is very simple, playing it is really quite fun and a great challenge to reflexes and hand/eye coordination. Graphics and sound it were nice and the presentation was pretty good too...
The Robot And The Pharaoh by Freddy Jones
I couldn't play this for very long at all... It seems that the deactivate code or something is broken as the mummies kept "popping" in and out of existence. The hit boxes were weird too, and I'd be obviously shooting an enemy but the bullet would just pass through leaving me to take damage. Concept and stopry were good, but the presentation iffy.
The Swarm by Fel666
I loved this... really, really enjoyed playing. until about level 3 (more on this in a moment) Such a great concept and really well executed, with a difficulty curve that was just right... graphically very pretty although all the swirly movement made me feel a bot motion sick by about level 3!!! Seriously, the camera movement made me feel ill by the end and I had to stop playing, so you may want to look at that if you decide to polish and expand this some more. I loved the idea though, and thought it was really very original and the graphics were simple but worked well, as did the sound. I'd certainly play this more if I didn't feel queasy right now...
The Winchester by clemonades
Good game, and inspired by a great film! Everything worked smoothly and the presentation/graphics were very good. Another solid entry, although it could have been a bit longer...
They are all DEAD, Unless... by RustyShadow
Can't say I liked this very much. Didn't have much of a clue what to do and just wandering around was boring. I did work out how to grapple blocks, but it seemed pretty pointless...
Time Travel is Hard by guadalcanal
Funny start to a fairly standard platform dodge-em-up. Everything was correct with the game, but it presented no real challenges to me as a player, and the "gun strapped to the head" mechanic was funny but didn't seem to do anything? At least, even if I shot an enemy I couldn't see any real effect in the game... anyway, all round good effort, although it didn't excite me much (intro text was funny though).
Tree of Life by Kiesenverseist
Good entry from a gameplay standpoint (I had fun running around the mazes and trying to block paths and shoot the enemies!) and I liked the use of the theme. It's let down by the lack of general polish (nicer graphics, proper menus, nmusic, etc...) , but like most games this Jam it seems a great base from which to build something better.
Troubles of Post-Mortal Times by Alice, Mercerenies
This game has a good level of content (some fun mini-games, puzzles!) and used the theme well. The story and presentation were a bit "meh", however...
Undead Matador Deluxe by MikeDark_x
Took me a moment before I realised that this is a "lights off" style game, but once I did I enjoyed playing. The lack of any sound was very noticeable and something that I missed, but the gameplay was solid (if a bit repetitive), and the graphics nice.
Welcome To Purgatory by Sirham
Hmmm... okay. This is an okay game. It's lacking good graphics and sound, and the controls felt a bit unrepsonsive and "floaty" but it's still an okay effort, with some pretty decent puzzles.
When They Come 2 by trg601
Hmm... Not sure whether I liked this or not. It gets good points use of the theme, story, presentation and concept, but I found the gameplay incredibly annoying and not much fun... The base mechanic of run/spit works, but there is just too long a wait between each stamina refill that it got frustrating very quickly.
