Ohh! I've been using GameMaker ever since first public release back in 1999 (yeah, I'm kinda old, I guess), yet I've never done a game jam.
This seems like the perfect opportunity to change that, and I'm really excited for this.

I do wish I didn't have to work so much on weekends though. Hopefully I can manage to make something decent enough, regardless.

Looks like this jam will start 7pm friday and end 7pm monday for me (GMT+7... did I calculate the times right?). Weird time frame, especially because I'll be on vacation monday morning, so I'll keep a close eye on the jam time counter.

That aside, I'm excited for this first jam on the new forums. Looks like lots more people will join this time compared to recent jams, so hopefully we'll get an epic turnout and lots of games to beat and play!

You don't need to say that per se; all you need is to post a valid entry in the Games topic once it's opened, so even if someone realised the Jam is going on in the middle of the second day, they could still decide to submit their entry. However, it's good to have some rough estimate of what participation we might expect. ^^

BULLET or WORLDS are interesting themes.

I'm more inclined for BULLET because I love bullet hell games, but my brain is telling me it's WORLDS because there's a chance Alice is following the "reveal all of the same letter" rule from older jams, meaning that's the only L in the word.

Thanks, I will note this for future reference! I've never taken part in a game jam before so I'm learning on the way... Probably a lot more questions from me tbh =D xD

This is not a "game" "maker" forum (a forum for all people making games), but a forum for "gamemaker" (the software), so no, you may not use other engines ;)

I wish I could feel hyped up for this, not just vaguely interested. But it feels like it'd be a fun event in either case. I should try to take it easy on the coffee this week so that it has an extra powerful effect on me during the jam weekend... :p

Maybe a puzzle game with strong focus on theme IDK? We will see closer to time.

I've been thinking about making a game with an isometric view. I hope to blur the lines of genre like I did with Hippy Business Balloon.

I've had a top-down shooter/tower defense game bouncing around in my head. If it matches one of these themes it'll give me a chance to give it a solid start on development. But if not, I'll come up with something else. It's always fun to build up an idea around a theme or something of the like in a rush. So excited for my first game jam!

I definitively want to wait for the themes to be revealed before I decide what game to make. Trying to shoehorn an idea into a game you've already gotten attached to - a premade concept easily would be that - just doesn't turn out well most of the time, and it's hard to not make the shoehorning obvious.
