Seems to be the letter O, yeah.

So of my guesses, YOURSELF and COLOURED (and NO_COLOR) still stand.

But more importantly, POTATOES still stands.

boundary, collapse, dominate, contrast, movement, position/location, possible, powerful, together and yourself all seem interesting.

I like the movement/position/location/possible ones (I can smell the quantum physics from a mile away) but since the theme is only one, they seem like they wouldn't really be *that* effective as themes on their own, yet movement stands out of the group as something that could have a lot of potential on its own.

together could maybe be too limiting if we don't think too much about it, but very interesting as well. my first thought was "oh so we're forced to make something multiplayer or that needs you to control two separate sides" but then again it doesn't specify how many are "together".

powerful, contrast and dominate all scream "video game" to me, especially next to each other, but I feel like they're too general for a gamejam theme, maybe contrast could work on its own better than the other two. but with generality comes both more possible interpretations and a harder time figuring them out.

boundary and collapse make me think of something a bit more story-driven, but they could work as well, I actually wouldn't mind either of the two and maybe if it ends up being a story driven game I can actually make more than 5 minutes of story with 30 seconds of gameplay this time lol

I still stand with my "yourself" guess. I feel like we could get some "deep" mechanics from it (like, "woke" deep, not logical deep, if that makes sense - Jaden Smith's twitter kind of deep).

Using illegal software (for any purpose) is your own personal (un)ethical decision.

My answer is:
You "can" do everything, but it doesn't mean you "may" do everything...

How would we know if you did? What is the point of asking this question when we are almost certainly going to say "No" but can't stop you even if we wanted to?
It's cuz they needed 5 posts before I can open a thread as a new user, so I started with a random question before moving to game reviews ;-)

I'm not up to speed on emoji...i see octopus and ok, but taxi, key, book, mailbox? What are their emoji names? I could google it of course but if you don't.mind telling me that would be cool.

Oncoming taxi, open book.
What tipped me off was the food on a stick. I looked for the emoji just because I didn't recognise it and it was called Oden. The based on Open Hands, Octopus, and OK, something sparked in my brain and I wondered if they all started with O and hunted down an emoji list.

Yup, well worked out! I thought using the emojis' official names (Oil Barrel, Open Mailbox, Office Building and Old Key being the ones you haven't mentioned) would make it harder, but you got it pretty quickly anyway haha.

I saw dogfight is one of those lists. That would be a cool one. I used to play the Atari version of that back in the day.

you can spell PHOENICIAN from that.

not sure what that gives me.

EDIT: the phoenician alphabet had X which is read as T. That does seem a bit of a stretch for a letter though.

EDIT2: they also had a circled X that is a variant of the T. So maybe it is T after all.

I haven't slept in three days, that's how.

Jokes aside, "a chin opine" doesn't really make sense even considering that to opine can mean "to state an opinion". So it's probably something else, even if my guess that it's an anagram is incorrect. The cross is probably involved with the puzzle too, because it wasn't included in the first puzzle.

As for my guess of phoenician and the letter T in particular, whether it's the right interpretation or not, it was a bit of a lucky coincidence: recently I have been looking at languages and the symbols used to write stuff, for a game I'm working on, and a simple cross like that appears in a lot of alphabets, and one of the most significative ones is the phoenician alphabet.

EDIT: Earlier guesses included words related to -PHONE or PHON-, maybe indicating the sound of the letter being related to the chin (but afaik the chin is not involved with the phonetic alphabet because it doesn't affect the sound of spoken language).

GvmG's guess is correct *however* I make it over 300 remaining possibilities for the theme. (Which is why I revealed the letters in this order, to leave as much ambiguity as possible :D )

hmmmm I think that 300 is a clue. I don't see it anywhere above.

This crossword solver app returns "over 300" words that fit the clues so far. Also notice than specifically said "possibilities", not "words", which means... nothing really, other than that he's being intentionally vague.

I like the idea of MONUMENT given that this Jam marks an anniversary

My guess: the theme is CONTRAST. It's because it's broad enough to allow a variety of genres, while not being so generic that many games end up implementing it by accident (unlike e.g. CONFLICT or CONFRONT, since many games have some kind of confrontation or conflict to them). Plus, it's just the kind of thing that's quite themey. One risky thing is that it overlaps with TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN, which was already used a few Jams ago.

And Ralucipe specifically mentioned choosing a theme that is neither too broad nor too restrictive:
It took days of brainstorming and internal debate for us to settle on something. We're very aware of the complaints about some of the recent themes, and with our selection being the sole theme of this jam, we certainly felt an added pressure to choose something that had a good balance between broad and restrictive. As I wrote elsewhere, our #1 priority was to pick a theme that forced jammers to be creative with their game mechanics, without forcing them down a specific path.
If not CONTRAST, then my second guess would be CONSTANT, as it also has some potential (e.g. fixed points come to mind). It's pretty tricky to implement in a way so obvious that one can spot its use without it being spelled out. Still, it could be quite an interesting theme to work in the games.

Another possibility I find curious is NONEVENT, though I guess it's something that would sooner inspire a plot than a gameplay mechanic.

(or maybe CONQUEST, though personally I think it's a bit meh and somewhat easy to shove into a preexisting game mechanic, especially a combat-based one)

I like contrast as a concept. I am having trouble thinking of something I like that would be doable on a weekend.

I agree with Alice about Contrast. I can already imagine a tonne of similar games to last time...
I really hope it isn't something like Conflict either... which is basically a non-theme.
Personally, I hope it's Bone Fat :p

CONJOINT has multiple possibilities while still having a theme that is not too general I think(maybe?):

I see some specifically Greek things, as well as a viking boat (and the colors of the Swedish flag). Will think more about this.

EDIT: I doubt it's DON'T NUT, it aint november anymore

EDIT2: considering spaces in, ZONE OUT is a possibility too, which I kinda like

EDIT3: is it a list of possible themes?

working on finding the others too there, I *think* this are right, but I am very dubious about the tent/songfest and the flag/colors. from advanced research it seems like it is not the flag of anywhere, nor a signaling flag, or anything similar. Definitely not with those specific colors. it is not a flag, confirmed on the discord.

I think it's not a SONGFEST, but rather a CONQUEST. If you look past the pretty colours, you will see the people there are warriors charging to the battle or something like that.
