Question - D&D Targeted Room Transitioning...

Hi there. So I've searched high and low, but cannot find help... I've figured out how to move a player (object) from one room to another using a collision object and "go to room" function. The problem is that I cannot target specifically where I would like the player to end up in that next room. The player automatically ends up in the in the spot of the new room which is same spot as previous room.
How can I choose the precise coordinates I'd like the player to land on in the target room?

global.newx = x

room_goto(1)

}


Create:
if (room = room1)
{
x = global.newx
y = global.newy
}
