It's been a while, but here is a major update. Most of the engine has been rewritten, meaning not all characters are in yet. Updates will be frequent and plentiful!

Movement:
- Controller support! (Currently in testing, let me know of any issues)
- Hold Atk when landing to do a roll/slide
- Shielding had been added
- Vertical collisions now work, with proper knock-back from above
- Directional Specials (Hold Up or Down when using a Special)

Stages:
There are now multiple stages to choose from!

New update, Alpha 2.1! Here’s the changes:

Krystal

New Up Special: Rocket Boost; Moves Krystal upwards fast.

Neutral Special: Fire Blast; Horizontal knockback increased slightly.

K.K. Slider

New Neutral Special: Music Note; K.K. plays a music note that deals damage to opponents.

Waddle Doo

New Neutral Special: Laser Shoot; Shoots a quick, fast recharging laser that provides good knockback.

Stages

New Stage: Mario Grassland; Inspired by New Super Mario Bros, this stage has several blocks you can jump on.

Music Update: Starlight Zone; Starlight Zone theme now plays.

Misc.

Horizontal clipping was fixed.

This update introduces 2 new characters, being Mallow from Super Mario RPG and Rouge from the Sonic series. There are also more stages, character balancing, and much more!

General
Percent shows
Percent is added before knockback

Added a back button on character select

Some of these changes should have been in the game before, such as the changes to shielding and percent being displayed. A new statistics mode is also being added, showing how many battles you've played so far.

Krystal
Attack - Damage increased, knockback and iframes decreased
Special - Knockback increased greatly, moves faster, charge is quicker

Krystal's neutral special, Fire Blast, used to be a very slow and low knockback move. With the move now dealing more knockback and being quicker, Fire Blast should now be usable in more situations.

Zoroark
Attack - Horizontal knockback and iframes decreased, vertical knockback increased
Special - Moves downwards, vertical knockback increased, damage decreased majorly, can be used when ascending
New Down Special: Flamethrower - Low damaging and very fast hitting attack

Zoroark's neutral special used to only work on the way down, while only dealing minuscule damage. By making the move usable anytime in the air and increasing knockback, neutral special should now be a good finishing move.

Goomba
Attack - Knockback and iframes decreased

Wolf Link
Special - Flip moves higher now
Up Special - Deals damage and knockback now

These two changes were made to Wolf Link in order to give him a new kill move, with Up Special dealing major knockback high up.

K.K. Slider
Walks faster
Attack - Knockback increased
Special - Damge increased, iframes decreased

K.K. Slider used to be very weak, due to his guitar attack dealing too little knockback for the speed it went at. The special being changed to deal more damage gives our favorite canine musician some more viability in battle.

Waddle Dee
Falls slower
Special - Knockback increased

Waddle Doo
Jumps higher
Special - Damage decreased, iframes increased

The Waddle Duo used to be unable to recover well due to their low jump heights. Now they each are able to recover and achieve higher places much easier.

Rouge
Added

Rouge is a quick attacking character with several options in the air, being her different Attack in the air, along with Special dragging opponents upwards.

Mallow
Added

Mallow is the first partner that you get in the Super Nintendo game, Super Mario RPG.

Sandbag
Added

Sandbag isn't a fighter, but is instead here for testing characters more conveniently.


Overall, this is a big update towards Super Smash Clash in general. More characters, attacks, stages, and even game modes will be added some time soon!

Changes (Alpha 3.1)

General
Game speed is now fixed! Used to run at approximately half speed, but now it works as intended.
Percentage displays farther right.

Now the game is much more playable with the frame rate being as intended.

Krystal
Attack - Damage decreased
Special - Collisions fixed (used to be destroyed on frame 1)
Side Special - New Side Special, Sideways Swing. A large staff swing usable in the air that can lead to combos.

Krystal's staff used to be too strong, dealing 8 damage per swing. Reducing the damage down to 7 balances the quick attack. Krystal also has her Sideways Swing attack again, this time being a special move.

Zoroark
Special (Ground) - New ground special, Shadow Claw. Moves both Zoroark and the opponent upwards.

Zoroark's special is now usable on the ground. Shadow Claw has a small hitbox, but it can combo into air special.

Mallow
Attack - Iframes decreased
Special - New Special, Lightning. A tall, horizontally moving attack great for zoning

Mallow now has his Lightning special move from Super Mario RPG. This time, it is used as a zoning move.

K.K. Slider
Attack - Damage and knockback decreased
Down Special - New Down Special, Music Staff. Makes a platform beneath K.K. Slider that lasts a second.

K.K. Slider now has a great recovery move of Music Staff. The move is good for blocking projectiles and also gaining height.

Waddle Dee
Special - Takes longer to charge

Waddle Doo
Special - Iframes increased

Waddle Dee and Doo used to be too powerful, firing two really strong projectiles at once. Without making damage changes, the moves are now much more balanced.

Rouge
Jumps higher, falls faster
Attack (Ground) - Damage increased, knockback and iframes decreased

Rouge's attack used to be fairly unusable due to the low damage and high knockback. The decreased iframes also makes this a multi-hitting move. Rouge now falls faster which her slow fall was her main weakness.

Changes (Alpha 4.0)

Captain Toad
Added

Captain Toad is a unique character because of his coin mechanic. His attack lets him pick up a coin from his bag and throw it. This makes him move faster and jump higher, while also making him take more knockback.

Zero
Added

Zero's blades are tricky at first to get kills with since to the blades deal downwards knockback. They have the potential to stop a foe at very low percents when off stage.

K.K. Slider
Down Special - Cool down increased

K.K. Slider's music staff attack allowed him to stay in the air forever before. By making the attack take longer to charge, he cannot stay in the air nearly as long.

Rouge
Jumps lower
Side Special - New Side Special, Glide. Rouge flies to the side dealing damage, but also removes one of her jumps

Rouge's glide move returns as her side special. This move does a fair amount of damage to foes, but the main use is air mobility. The move is balanced by removing a jump from her.

Goomba
Character select image changed
Up Special - Creates a small goomba at the end, cooldown lengthened slightly
Air Attack - Vertical knockback is now downwards

Goomba's air attack does not come off frequently enough. It also took too long to use. Now, Goomba creates a mini goomba at the end of his up special. Downwards knockback helps the air attack get kills over gaps, which used to be one of Goomba's weak points.

Wolf Link
Attack - Duration decreased

Wolf Link's attack used to last too long, so the duration has been decreased greatly.

Krystal
Move speed decreased
Attack - Staff moves faster, slight swing changes

Stages
Temple of Time - Background color changed

Announcement for Alpha 5.0 and what will be added.

General
- Strong moves will receive hit stun where you cannot move for a short amount of time.
- UI will be changed to make it more accessible and look cleaner.
- Several new characters can be unlocked.
- Characters have an alternate form, having a new appearance and moves.

Characters
- Isabelle from Animal Crossing is being added! She has several projectiles and varied special moves.
- Krystal is receiving an alternate form based on Star Fox Adventures.
- Waddle Duo is being removed temporarily, due to being somewhat glitchy and being annoying to play against.
- Random character select will be available.
- At least four new characters will be added!

Stages
- Some new stages will be featuring moving platforms and a more zoomed out camera.
- Pokemon Center is being remade, having less walls to make battling more fun.

This update is planned to be released late August, but may release sooner or later.

Small Update

Super Smash Clash will not be going to Alpha 5.0, but instead will be going into Beta 1.0 next update. Beta 1.0 is planned to be much larger than A.5.0 would have been, featuring new game modes, characters, stages, unlockables, and more. Beta 1.0 will be pushed back to late September. This is due to several new characters not having sprite sheets, making me have to create all the sprites from scratch, along with other things too. If you want to help test the next update early, send me a message.
