Suggestion: Double click in resource list opens, not renames

In previous versions of Game Maker, double clicking a resource in the resource tree opens the resource in question. In GMS2, double clicking the resource name renames it. Only double clicking the icon will open the resource.

I feel that reverting to the old style would be helpful. Renaming can still be done in classic fashion by pressing F2 or right clicking to rename. I find myself having to cancel a rename every time I try to open a resource. You also have to be much more precise when selecting the icon itself. Any deviation to the right again triggers the rename.

I'd have to second this. I often find myself forgetting that you have to double click on the icon to open a resource. I'm okay with the slow double click for renaming, as that's how I usually rename things in a mouse driven environment, but I personally don't see any reason why a quick double click shouldn't open the resource as well.

A "slow" double click renames it, a normal - faster one - opens it. It may be your normal double click isn't fast enough for the defaults. You can change the timings via the preferences

GeneralSettings->Input-> Slow double-click time in milliseconds

Up this number, that should help.

Oh, heh heh, now I feel silly. I must have been extra slow the past few days. I just tried double clicking at my normal speed and had no problem opening things. Good to know about that preference though. Thanks!
