Windows sprite_add() gif support in GMS2?

    In older GM versions (until 8.1) you could import animated gifs via GML without any problems.
    Don't know if it happened at the beginning or later during the lifespan of GMS1 that this function got buggy. GM cuts the animated frames into small stripes that get narrower the more frames you want to import. As a consequence the help document of GMS1 was updated to state that only the first subimage of a gif can be loaded correctly after this bug was reported.

    I assume it will never be fixed for GMS1 but is it already fixed for GMS2 or is it an acknowledged bug?
    (I own GMS2 but don't have it installed right now)
