Question - IDE Source control changed line highlighting

I'm very used to being able to quickly look through a file and see where my source control amends have been made when using other IDEs and looking through the settings I can see a colour setting in the code editor for changed lines.

I assumed this was for use with the source control to highlight modifications since the last commit. But It doesn't seem to be, or at least has never worked for me even with the latest windows version of GMS2.

Am I wrong and this is not a feature? Or am I doing something very wrong somehow? Source control is working for me on my projects for committing and pushing so far.
