Hi all,
This is probably a question to the artists here. Something's got me stumped.
I have a 512x512 building sprite, and at the moment I'm scaling it down to 0.25 with image_xscale/image_yscale in-game to make it fit the surroundings. It's still looks quite crisp at that size and the details are easy to make out.
But whenever I try to scale it down to 25% in Krita or Paint.net, it becomes a pixelated mess and pretty much all the detail is gone. I've tried all sorts of scaling filters (Lanczos3, Bicubic etc.) to no avail. Does GMS use some secret scaling magic, or am I missing something really obvious here?
Thank you!
Update: DPI setting. I literally facepalmed.
