Question - GML Visual Player colliding with floor

Hello, I just finished the DnD tutorial of GMS2 and wanted to create my own game, I'm trying to create a platformer-esque game and want my character to collide with the floor beneath him, I've tried looking for a tutorial that explains this in DnD but can't seem to find one, anyone willing to help me a bit?
