GML Physics Help

Hi, I started created a pool/billiard game just messing around trying to figure out the physics environment. I have been completely unsuccessful at getting it to work.
I have read the manual, some sections multiple times, and I still cannot quite grasp it or get it to function at all.

I am no expert at all, but I do have a fairly good understanding of GML and coding in general. Years ago I made many games with GM but it has been YEARS and I am just now playing around with it again.
The physics aspect was not part of GM last time I used it, and it looks very interesting and exactly like what I'm looking for.

Does anybody have an example game, or coding they can paste in here to help get me going? Just a simple "hit this ball into that ball" and have it react. I would appreciate any assistance.
Even a demo or example game I can just surf through the coding on and possible find my "ah ha!" moment.

Thanks!
