Legacy GM Pause event? (Tabbing out)

My game automatically pauses when I switch windows, but unregisters it as soon as I do so unless I minimize it, which leaves it paused. Why is that? And how can I stop it? Is there a way to trigger the pause event in-game?

Also after minimizing it when I pull it back up it's just a white screen, and I need to shut it down manually with the Game Maker's stop web server button. Any idea why that happens?

Does no one know anything about the auto pause feature in GMS 1.4? It happens whenever you tab out.

Not sure how you want to use it, but the function os_is_paused() can check if the os has paused the game.
