I was following along an old Game Maker 8 Legacy tutorial on making a basic isometric game in GameMaker: Studio when I noticed something odd as I was placing the isometric wall objects in the room via the room editor. It became increasingly difficult to see where I'm placing the objects, as the following image will show:
But when I ran the game build itself, the objects were drawn as they should according to the tutorial:
I'm not sure if it is a glitch in the room editor that's causing the visibility issues in which some wall objects phase through each other, but it is bound to cause problems for when I start creating my own isometric games. I've only just became recently aware of the issues with the room editor's built-in isometric grid so that may be out of the question. Is there a way to resolve the issue in which I would be able to clearly see where I place isometric objects in a room without the built-in isometric features?
Update: 9/20/17
In the Legacy version of Game Maker, the room editor had two buttons that would sort all of the instances in the room based on the coordinates in which they were placed in the room: one for the x-coordinate and one for the y-coordinate (the image below points this out). The room editor featured in GameMaker: Studio obviously doesn't have that. Would there happen to be a way of neatly sorting instances in the room editor that I seem to be overlooking or is it just not possible with GameMaker: Studio?
