Hey there. I'm Droggog. I use to play MWO with the handle "Interface2037". My name is Charles, i am 39 and i am from Wallonia (Belgium). I'm actually quite new to Game Maker, been using it for 6 months or so. Back in the days, i made a map for the GoldSrc engine for the modification "Natural Selection" for which i got really good reviews from now-famous-people. Can't post a link but just look up for "co_minas" on ze interwab and you'll probably end up seeing some cool screenshots. My personality type is ENTP so i'm eager to actually finishing a project with GMS 1.4.x. For my project with GMS, code-wise (wich isn't my thing -yet but i'm learning-), think Turrican II, a mix between a platformer and a top down shooter with very fast gameplay. Heh.

Now, I'm mostly working on typing T-SQL code and dreaming about developing an app for mobiles.

I want to prove to my children (three, between 10 and 14 years) that I can develop a mobile game and I aim to get the game clear before I reach 50 years (March 24, 2019).

Hello everyone! I'm Christian (or Chrix, if you prefer to call me by my username). I'm one of the few inexperienced game developers who won't update to Studio because I use way too many resources and I'm too lazy to buy Studio. Because of this, I'm still using GameMaker 8.0 for development. I don't have much experience, but I'm willing to learn whatever I need!

My main project right now is a small game based around simple shapes (since I'm too lazy to animate anything more complicated than squares and triangles. I'm hoping to complete and release it before the end of 2018. Since I'm working on it all by myself (level design, music, everything) it may take longer.

I'm also a speedrunner, under the username KryxedOff. I have a few World Records in that area.

Well, I've been looking for a place to introduce myself, but since I don't know the forum very well I haven't been able to find it.

I created my account one year ago and I realized I could have been a decent programmer if I kept practicing and asking for help, but unfortunately I procrastinated so I lost one year of experience.

I am only 15 years old so this is not too late. Sorry for my english by the way, I prefer writing insead of using any translator.

I'm new so I joined the forum to earn experience, mostly because I was planning to create a game years ago. At first I was thinking about making a "small test before sTArtIng tHe BIG PROJeCT L0L LMFAO XDDDD" but I realized that everything requires hard work, trials and a lot of motivation.
One year ago on another forum, like an idiot, I've been asking for a whole engine, with cofee and cookies if you get what I mean, and I can tell you that they thaught me that games are difficult to create, in the hard way.

I was naive, I thought making a game was easy (Creating a game is not only related to GML, you also have to design characters, gameplay, story, graphics/pixelart), but now I know how hard it is and I am ready to learn.

I have a very very very half baked understanding of GML (after months of searching, i assumed that using game maker would be a better idea rather than unity or any software that I downloaded)

I've seen sharing my code problems on the discord server of Game Maker and I can tell you they've helped me a lot.

I don't know where to start learning GML but I was looking for learning all the variables.
So if you guys could tell me how you're dealing with GML so I could use your replies as a guide for my current progression.
