Hi Ive been using GM since ver 6 off and on (2004). Im an intermediate gml person with a smattering of python, basic, visual basic, and GAMBAS thrown in.

Im not looking for full time work, I actually own a carpentry furniture making shop and I program for fun. Currently Im messing around with CNC routers and lasers. My carpentry shop website is skaggswoodworks.net. Not asking you to buy anything there, just showing I'm real.

Anyway I want to freshen up my skills and if you need some help with a project I dont mind giving a hand- I have forgotten a lot, but it will come back to me :)

I'm pretty good at game design (not the art and sound, but the mechanics)- removing dead rabbit trails, and working out dynamics before coding. I enjoy making / implementing gui systems. A good design really helps you code faster and more efficiently.

I have made and coded: rpg's, card games (one that combined chess and magic cards, another that was a game based on dice and matching numbers), carnival games, interactive novels, hidden object games, centipede and galaga style arcades, platforms. I have also written mapmakers, chessboard makers, novel writing software, fortune tellers, and many websites and application programs for construction and business. In windows and linux.

I actually quit game writing in 2010 and started up again last year and wrote a html 5 tower defense game.

Currently I am writing a casual wizard shopping rpg, and a checkers style goblin game.

I prefer small casual games at the time- so I can help you with small games or small problems that need solving. I have zero interest in doing networking, mmo, 3d, or games based around porn or hate. Some projects Ill do for free others I might charge a little depends on the work load.

Here is a demo game that combines the following:

jbdemo.exe
example of textures, arrays, ds_lists, scroll bars, scrolling, sound effects, music, room changes, basic dialog, tool tips, mouse hovers, hidden object mini game, shooter mini game, mini-map, guis, particle effects, saving files, creating a chess board and then saving it as a sprite png. The texture map chooser also shows how a scrollable inventory can work.

it is not highly polished as it is just proof I can do what I say I can.

here is a proof of concept html tower defense I made nothing fancy: Not all the menu items have function, and there is only one level. It is very rough. the only tower that works is the wizard tower. This was made in a gamemaker html5 clone (now defunct)

dreamwalker tower defense proof of concept

I am a beginning intermediate programmer or I'm an advanced beginner!

Thanks JB
