GameMaker How to make a tree turn into fire

I was wondering how to make a tree turn into fire and then just leave wood.

I've been trying to google search tutorials on this but I couldn't find anything after searching for sometime. I'm brand new to gm2 but I'm having fun when doing some tutorials on youtube. I would appreciate if someone pointed me in the right direction on where I could learn to do things like this and apply it to my game.

Well basically create a fire object on the destroy event of the free

Ok so create a fire object when the tree gets destroyed and have an alarm set so that it will leave a charcoal or wood object. I think I understand. I'll have to play around with it. Thanks!

Yes, I do want the tree to catch fire but I do not know how.
