Question - IDE [SOLVED]GMS2 quick question [x & y values]

Is there a reason for y becoming positive when moving downwards and not upwards. Seems counterintuitive when x becomes positive when moving right.

down-right = positive x&y values
up-left = negative

Well, screens are drawn from upper left, and the memory addresses holding display data thus increase to the right and down. At least, that's the reason with first computer systems that had to be attached to a display, and it's been that way ever since. Not sure you could easily find a system where y increases towards the top.
