Windows GMS2 can't make a sound...

Hi chaps. I've got GMS on a lightweight Chinese laptop.

Today I've tried to get it (IDE v2.2.4.474 Runtime v2.2.4.374) to play sounds. Starting with my own sound and then using some YoYo-supplied tutorial sounds.

GMS is silent. In the "Sound Editor" GMS is silent, no errors or warnings shown, ditto when I run the project.

My system sound is not muted.
In

File...Preferences...General Preferences

the correct (only) sound output device is selected.

If I play the sound file from File Explorer then it plays and is easily audible.

There are no outstanding Windoze updates bar 1909

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Cliff

Make sure the correct drivers are installed for the sound chip the laptop uses... Other than that, you'll probably have to contact the YYG helpdesk and include all the information you can about your system (sysinfo from the RUN dialogue will help with that).

I know you said your system sound is not muted, but open the Volume Mixer and check that just the GMS2 application itself isn't muted, even though the global system sound is not. You can mute individual apps and still have global sound enabled.
