Hello everyone,
I know that there are others like me, who just struggle with GM:S code editor in medium to larger projects, so... here's yet another GM language plugin (just a prototype atm).
Since Parakeet is closed (never had a change to try it), and other plugins like one into notepad++ is not really what I'm looking for as I fall in love with rich IDEs, I've decided to dive into JetBrains plugin development.
I've manager to create a prototype to test if it'll work at all and as you can guess, it does, since I'm posting here. (If there is something like that already and I've missed it, please let me know.)
So why am I posting here?
First of all I'd love to know if there's gonna be any interest in this work or not, based on which I'll decide how much it's worth the time to implement all those fancy features from code completion, folding, to quick search, etc... Should there be some interest I'll be also looking for any help from fresh eyes with new ideas, testers (later on ofc) or even programmers? ...
Note that my idea is NOT to replace GM:S at all, but to work alongside it, adding an option to write objects and scripts. Codes are synchronized with GM:S files, so what you write in one will be transcribed to another IDE.
Picture worth thousands of words, here's a short example:
Please tell me what do you think... would you be interested in such plugin (keep in mind that IntelliJ is not for free, apart *cough pirates *cough, shame on you).
Also the sync process is done via Java application running alongside both IDEs, so it's little more load on your CPU (but still, it'll most probably end up being just a fraction of what IntelliJ takes )
I'll be looking forward to discussion and keep in mind that it's just a prototype, not very interesting yet.
Have a nice day, IceE.
