Hey all,

I've made a working code beautifier for GML! You can try it out here in your browser: http://gmlbeautify.nstbayless.com/

Currently, GML 2 syntax like array literals are not supported. I'll add support for that soon.

The try-it link does not seem to work for me though..

Is this still in the works, and will it support gms2?
I have recently changed my personal rules for programming (like, enforcing parenthesizes around conditions, double-space indents, space before comments, etc.), which leaves my project of multiple years in the need of a major beautification ^_^'
Currently I just live with the mess and write all new code as my rules would expect.

Not abandoned, but it is on hiatus, as I'm busy with life stuff. In the meanwhile, you can compile the code yourself on github or use this demo site. http://gmlbeautify.nstbayless.com/

The advantage of compiling it yourself is that you can beautify a whole project at once that way.

Ultimately code formatting is a very complex task to undertake.

As an outsider that's completely ignorant to the complications that could arise, what is so complex about it? At a glance, it seems like a fairly simple task.

There are numerous caveats with figuring out intended spacing, comments, extra parenthesis, and so on - gml_fmt's unit test gives a good look at edge cases
