So will the GameMaker: Player die off just like the Sandbox did, now that all the games published on it, are broken now due GMS2? Also support for Mac and Linux is still being advertised, even though that will no longer happen as the GameMaker: Player is now obsolete (before it even came out of beta??)

Everything dies off eventually, but this would be sad if the Player was to go so soon.

The GameMaker: Player application is available to download free of charge from www.yoyogames.com for Windows, and will soon be available for Mac and Linux systems.

@Mike the site still mentions support for Mac and Linux to be "coming soon", which is misleading, I think it would be wise to remove that, at this point, as the current 1.x GameMaker: Player won't have it; it is the 2.x that will, which will be considered a "different product". None of the 1.x games will work in 2.x. :p
