YoYo Games is happy to be hosting a holiday competition to create and develop a game on the theme “FORWARD MOTION” by using the GameMaker Studio 2 version 2.3 and Sequences. Submit a game & the project files created between Dec 16th 2020 - Jan 8th 2021!

SIGN UP ON ITCH HERE: https://itch.io/jam/gamemaker-holiday

The theme of the jam is “FORWARD MOTION” and you are free to explore the theme in any way you can think. We just want to get things moving using Sequences. The Game Jam is open to anyone and you are welcome to make a team of up to three. The YoYo Games office will even be taking part! GameMaker Studio 2 will also be available for free during the jam, so anyone can get involved, regardless of whether or not you already own a licence.

Making a game is what counts, so if the theme doesn't work for you then feel free to create anything you like. The main rule here is it has to be created using GameMaker. To this end, we'll need entrants to share their project files in their submissions so that they can be verified as GameMaker projects. Marketplace assets are allowed but if you want to protect the asset you can make the submission of the project private.

FULL T&CS SEE HERE

Voting is open on the page for everyone to vote but judging to determine the winners will be done internally and the winners will receive prizes (a choice of GameMaker Studio 2 Developer licence) from YoYo Games! If a team wins a category all members (up to 3) will receive a prize. Prizes will be given out based on the following categories:
  • Best game!
  • Best use of theme!
  • Best use of Sequences!
Happy GameMaking!!
