Windows Game Maker 2 stuck at "building" : none of my games launch

Hi every one,

I've read here and here some complains about games that won't launch, but it doesn't seem to replicate my problem. If there's a topic that I've missed I'm sorry and I will delete this one.

So, I hadn't launched GM2 for a month. I just did yesterday and was surprised (in a quite bad way) to see that none of my games launch. So I press the play button, the progression bar at up right corner fills up to 100% but nothing comes... It just indicates building and it seems to last for hours.

IDE v2.1.5.322 Steam Runtime v2.1.5.246

In the launching window, at bottom, there are the following lines :

"cmd" /c subst Z: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\GMS2CACHE"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1430492s for command "cmd" /c subst Z: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\GMS2CACHE" started at 08/19/2018 14:23:09
"cmd" /c subst Y: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Local\GameMakerStudio2\GMS2TEMP"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1089209s for command "cmd" /c subst Y: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Local\GameMakerStudio2\GMS2TEMP" started at 08/19/2018 14:23:09
"cmd" /c subst X: "C:\ProgramData\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\runtimes\runtime-2.1.5.246"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1041159s for command "cmd" /c subst X: "C:\ProgramData\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\runtimes\runtime-2.1.5.246" started at 08/19/2018 14:23:09
Saving project to: C:\Users\Nicolas\Documents\GameMakerStudio2\RT2_alpha0_017_027\RT2_alpha0_017_027.yyp

Some help would be very much appreciated...

Thank you so much for answering @MusNik !

So I checked 'Verbose compiler output' which wasn't checked yet. The only difference seems that the blue progression bar in the right corner doesn't even start. There's only 'Building', with a timer, and the bar remains empty. Here are the output lines (I think they're identical to the last ones I reported in my initial post) :

"cmd" /c subst Z: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\GMS2CACHE"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1019166s for command "cmd" /c subst Z: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\GMS2CACHE" started at 08/19/2018 16:35:42
"cmd" /c subst Y: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Local\GameMakerStudio2\GMS2TEMP"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1083404s for command "cmd" /c subst Y: "C:\Users\Nicolas\AppData\Local\GameMakerStudio2\GMS2TEMP" started at 08/19/2018 16:35:42
"cmd" /c subst X: "C:\ProgramData\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\runtimes\runtime-2.1.5.246"
elapsed time 00:00:00.1093475s for command "cmd" /c subst X: "C:\ProgramData\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\runtimes\runtime-2.1.5.246" started at 08/19/2018 16:35:42

Even an empty project doesn't launch... the project window didn't open. Could someone help? I've been working on one of my projects for one year and a half, it's quite stressful :)

I reinstalled GM2, tried to launch many projects, even tried old IDE...

That's quite extreme but at least it's working now.

If you are using Windows 10 I'd advise keeping it up to date via Windows Update as often as possible.
I'd also keep an eye on and test GMS2 when you are reinstalling any software you used to have installed which may have been interfering with it and stopping it from working.

It's usually over zealous antivirus, system protection software or things that make changes to firewall / internet connection etc.
