Hello everyone,

So i came here on behalve of a group of people who all have the same issue with a program created with Game Maker

the program is an editor for a GBA game.
Now the issue we all have is that very often when we try to start it up, we get an error and the only solution we can find is to restart the computer multiple times and just hope for the best (there have been cases where it took days for it to work again)

the original creator of the editor has long since left the group and now we have one who is able to get some small upgrades to it but this one issue is the one no one seems to know where it comes from or how to fix it

The error itself is the following:
ERROR in
action number 1
of Trigger Event: Trigger0
for object obj_license:

Error defining an external function.
we assume it was created with game maker 8 or 8.1

we hope there is someone here who knows what is causing this and how to fix it, there have been some who just stopped due to this, which sucks for everyone

side notes: admin rights and compatibility settings have no effect on this

You're probably missing a custom DLL that the program depends on, or that DLL isn't playing nicely with newer versions of Windows.

And yes, the format of the error message definitely looks like legacy GM. At best, putting back the DLL and not running the program from inside a zip file might do it. At worst, you might have to run that program in an emulated XP environment.
