Question - IDE Does GM:S2 I.D.E. Require DirectX 11 To Run?

Hi,

My question is simple:
To run GameMaker:Studio 2 I.D.E. on Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
are DirectX 11 graphic adapter and DirectX 11 display drivers required?

My issue is I run Linux and would be using GameMaker:Studio 2
in a Windows 10 Pro 64Bit virtual machine which only supports DirectX 10.

Let me know, thanks!

Windows games run DX11, so you will need to upgrade your VM.
Which is odd since Win10 should support up to DX12 right out of the install, unless the hardware given to the VM can't support it

The IDE itself uses OpenGL for all rendering so your VM will need to support that on the Windows side.

We do provide a software renderer (MESA) which you can activate (just copy the opengl32.dll from the mesa directory to the main install directory) but the double whammy of VM and software rendering will probably bing things to its knees
