From the docs:
  • -vanillaGFX: Using this switches off any check for driver manufacturer, and can be very useful for testing your game "as is".
What does "as is" mean, exactly? What is that as opposed to, if I'm not using this flag?

We do checking internally for some intel chips - as the drivers can be a bit naff. This enables some work arounds, but this helps you switch them off (for testing usually)
