Legacy GM Climbing onto a Platform with Ladder?

I just watched Shaun Spalding's ladder a while back, and have the code for ladders he had, (without the jump code.) What I want is like the ladder system in Donkey Kong. (Not making a Donkey Kong game by the way, it just matches the way I'm building my game.) If you haven't played Donkey Kong, you don't auto-jump when you get to the top of a ladder, and you can climb up the platform when the ladder is touching the bottom of it.

TL;DR: I need to make a ladder system like in Donkey Kong.

They set a timer to 4 and counted it down when you reached the top or bottom of a ladder. You couldn't move while it was counting down.
