So i got a tower defense game done but its top down.

Question is, i want to know if its posible to do it isometric? I would need a completly different code for tower rotation since i gues it would be a 3d?

any comments? not sure how would i pull it off if i want it to be isometric, is it possible without having to make it 3d rendered?

I'd suggest checking out this game and try to figure out how they did it:

Try to notice little things about it, such as the hit boxes for when and where the towers lock on. I think they're a bit off here but it still works great. Overall this is a great example of a very well made isometric TD that uses traditional 2D art assets. (I bet they used Flash though, not GameMaker. But the concepts still stand.)

So in short, yes. Yes you can make an isometric TD game in GameMaker Studio.

Isometric is simply a form of rendering. The logic would remain as if the game was top down, you simply render the world differently. Go look at the gamemaker demo tab in the launcher, they have an isometric example

Heh, exactly what seanm said. Isometric view is just that a presentation and the underlying game is still played on a grid.
