"In the age of electronics, the toy-robots became kids favourite playthings. However, a young, ambitious designer, created a new toy. A Kid. A Box Kid! A toy made out of cardboard. A toy that should breathe life into the world of imagination. But the company's CEO wasn't impressed by that idea and he threw Box Kid into the garbage chute... But was that the real reason? Unveil the truth, as you help Box Kid discover his destiny!"

Experience simple but deep gameplay, that really captures the spirit of the 8-bit era.

Congrats on the release! I gave it a twirl, beat the first section (5 levels?). Nice challenges, and gameplay's smooth.
For some reason the default settings, the game ran a bit slowly on my laptop. I tweaked the options, (lower res/shadows off) and runs fast, so that's a lot better.

I had my doubts about the large levels when I was watching the gameplay videos, as I've designed these types of games, too, and I always felt that dying/getting stuck at the end of a large level is really punishing for the player. But the rewind system you've got in the game is great, and works pretty well to solve that problem (I had to use it heavily once!). It'd have been cool to see the rewind a bit more animated: but I get that it might have been a bit of work to get that going!

All-in-all, good job.

Thanks, @Desert Dog! I was struggling with coming up with good rewind animation. I did the clock animation for the pause button and felt that it might work for rewind as well. It could be better, I agree.
And yes, the rewind system is a blessing. At first, the game was super punishing - you die/mess up - you have to start from the beginning. But we've got immediate feedback that it's not ok. We've added a quicksave feature and rewarded players for not using too much of it. Still, Box Kid Adventures isn't forgiving at all, the game is fast so controls are not that precise, you can only push crates, not pull them. I already tested and knew that my quicksave system is super fast, so I was able to use it also as rewinds (but instead of saving a text file, it keeps it in memory). It was a quick add-on and it is a lifesaver.
