"Right or wrong, it's very pleasant to break something from time to time."

Ballz VS Wallz is my take on a trending genre. Block columns spawn stage left and right. Swipe down, aim, and launch your balls to smash 'em to bits! Let blocks jam in the center and it's Game Over. Collecting orbs increases your ball count and in-game currency. Use points to unlock ball variants.
The Experiment
Ballz VS Wallz' development could not have differed more from my first project, Blind Samurai. The former took 2 weeks, the latter nearly 2 years. I had invested $1000+ into Blind Samurai assets. So, when I discovered Ballz, my game's progenitor, my jaw hit the floor. Estimated daily downloads and revenue were in the thousands. "I could make that in a weekend!" And, well, I wasn't far off.
Ballz spin-offs were money printing machines. It's true factors like the developer's established game network contributes to success. However, the time investment is negligible and justifies potential success. Ballz has only recently dropped from Top 5 Free (Google Play).
My plan is to promote Ballz VS Wallz through ASO, social neworks, press release, and by approaching YouTubers. I'll share progress with you fellow devs. Revenue is generated when players watch Adcolony videos. They are offered a video in exchange for continuing after Game Over.
It really is an addictive genre and passes what I dub the 'Pringles Test'. You have to take one more turn!
Lessons Learned So Far
-Accept Google Play's default SHA1. Your game won't connect to Services otherwise. :-/
-You can make a game with $0.
-Family love it. They were lukewarm to Blind Samurai, likely because they are casual players.
-Google Admob requires Adsense which requires you have a website. Blind Samurai has a website... which was rejected. No admob :-/
