Audio File Bloat

So, I've got this weird thing going on where just adding a handful of audio files that aren't that big (everything but the music is under 200kb a pop) suddenly bloated the size of my data file by an illogical amount when I compiled a build to check my game size out of curiosity

Check the settings of your audio resources. Setting these to uncompressed or a higher quality format than they were encoded in may end up in them being converted / recompressed into a format that, on top of not sounding any better than the original, will take up more space.

go through all your background music resources (leave SFX as-is) and in "Attributes", choose the Uncompress on Load - Not Streamed.

That was 100% it, setting the MP3 file to uncompress at load dropped the size clear down to around 3.2MB from 37MB.

Thanks
