Windows Asset compiler Issue

Hey there! Today I was working on my project and, in one of many runs, this poped up:



It literally came out of nowhere. No major change on the project, just in-between some runs this started to happen and haven't stopped since.
I've tried cleaning the cache, running in debug mode, reinstalling, rebooting the PC, copy-pasting the project, but nothing. It happens in almost every project I have, except for a really small one.

So, as information, this happens when the project is compiling, and stops always in the same line:
"Reading config delta 'C:\Users\Vicente\Documents\GameMakerStudio2\Project\options\main\inherited\options_main.inherited.yy' "
And I have that file! Everything looks perfectly fine, but it can compile now.

Any help is appreciated. Salutes!

Please file a bug report (in GMS goto Help > Report a Bug). Include a copy of the compiler output and link to a copy of a project that has the issue (export the project from GMS as a YYZ file: File > Export).

The only time I got that error on GM1.4 was when I ran out of space in the hard drive because of all temp files generated by the project

I have like 600gb of free space, so I doubt that is the case here haha

Make sure you're on the latest runtime (you can download the latest one int the preferences), failing that you'll need to file a bug and include the project.

The default 1 room new project with no changes does this. the problem is not project related...

Okay.... then we definitely need you to file a bug with you log file as this doesn't happen to every one else.

I'd also go and delete your runtime and then download them again, in case they didn't come down correctly, because something is off on your machine or installation.

Since you cant delete the runtime that is "running" I simply uninstalled and re-installed studio 2

Still having the issue. I reported it. I cant find any log file on my system... There should be a menu in the help to get to those. maybe they are not where I looked

Not sure if the runtimes are deleted on an uninstall. Check the cache folder in program data... You can just delete this folder and it'll re-download

Can you post the file "C:\Users\Gilles\AppData\Local\GameMakerStudio2\build.bff" (you can see this file listed in the compiler output above). This changes each build, so do a build then copy/paste this in if you can.

@icuurd12b42 - From the look of the call stack that we are seeing on KeyNotFoundExceptions it would indicate that the path to the vcvars32.bat file is not set up correctly for YYC, can I confirm

a) You are compiling for Windows YYC???
b) You have selected the vcvars32.bat correctly in the File -> Preferences -> Platform Settings -> Windows -> Visual Studio Path (this has changed on this version and we thought we had plugged all the routes to setting this incorrectly but we may have missed something).

Can't, there is no GameMakerStudio2 folder in the AppData\Local folder

If you hit the Restore Defaults button it should give you the correct path to the vcvars32.bat file, although you'll need to change the drive letter to E I'd assume. Your bug is that you're missing the path to the vcvars32.bat file and we don't handle that so I've added it to Mantis to get fixed as can be seen here - http://bugs.yoyogames.com/view.php?id=26512
