GameMaker Any way to get a particle count in a specific area?

Sorry if this is obvious but I am aware i can count the particles in a room with physics_particle_count() however i'm wondering if theres a way to count them in a specific area? I am using soft body particles with the water flag and want to count how many land in a bucket. Any leads or help would be great, thanks.
