Android Android module question

I currently only own the Windows version of GM2, so I'm hoping that someone who has the Android module can answer my question.

Does the Android module simply let me build my project so it'll run on android or does it also bring additional functionality to GM2?

For example, if I purchase the Android module, will I be able to use GM2 to perform various Android-specific actions, such as access the device's hardware (eg GPS module, camera etc). Ditto for IOS.

Thanks in advance,
Zeb

Platform-specific functions are always available, but as the name suggests, they work only on the plaforms they're meant for. AFAIK you don't need to buy an export module to "unlock" them. So it allows you to use functionality (otherwise unusable) that's already available rather than adding new functionality.
