After "Sonic Mania", will Sega allow fans to make Streets of Rage 4?

A fan game was made about ten years ago, called "Streets of Rage remake", but Sega reportedly told its creators to stop it.

The creators made a good game, being faithful to the original trilogy and adding some new things, like bringing Adam from Streets of Rage 1 into the stages of the other two games. It is similar to bringing Knuckles into Sonic 1 and Sonic 2, games where he did not exist.

I advise Sega to enlist these fan creators' help and make another Streets of Rage game. Sonic Mania has spoken.

But instead of reusing old stages like Sonic Mania, they make a fresh new game with a new story.

Why bother when you can make a game that's not streets of rage and better? The IP doesn't make the game, clearly. Shake the nostalgia goggles.

Money? And nostalgia? Why wouldn't you create a sequel to a successful series if the gameplay is close enough? Game series are brands; they get stronger whenever you add a good game to them.

Edit: from Sega's perspective, I mean. From the fan's perspective, it depends how much Sega will give them out of the profits, hehe. Name recognition is worth a lot still, but plenty of Indies make tons of money with new IP, too. It's a toss up, if we're just talking about money...
