IDE Release Notes
Runtime Release Notes
Current Release - IDE v2022.500.0.97 Runtime v2022.500.0.63 (May 17, 2022)
This one is a few crash fixes in the IDE and in-game, plus fixes for some audio issues introduced in the last Beta.
It does contain WIP changes for natively supporting M1 Macs alongside Intel ones, but right now M1 Macs will still use the Intel/Rosetta stuff this one last time. Let us know if you do have any odd new issues in the Mac IDE (and ensure you send us your ui.log when you report the ticket)!
We are aware:
No projects will run if they contain any SWF sprites
We have also found an Image Editor issue which can cause the IDE to stop rendering if you manage to delete the final remaining frame in any sprite (which you should not be able to do)
Beta 1 - IDE v2022.500.0.46 Runtime v2022.500.0.25 (Apr 28, 2022)
Good Afternoon everyone. Tonight we bring you beta 1 of the May release. IDE v2022.500.0.46 Runtime v2022.500.0.25. Please do read below and the release notes.
This build is Windows IDE only. This first beta release is expected to be a little unstable. Your feedback will be very welcome, but it is important that you back up any of your projects before opening them in this build. Please do log issues you find and provide the requested information.
We are aware that building for Android YYC and Opera GX YYC do not currently function.
It's not all backend work though - no-no. We are delighted to have also introduced a couple of new features while we were at it:
Time Sources, like alarms but not tied to objects and with far more control.
New Feather functionality, Find all references (press F3 on a word in the code editor)
Sound Inspector, Waveform preview, see the sound.
Whoops - forgot to mention in the release notes: instance_create_layer/depth now accepts an optional struct parameter that allows for passing values to instances so they are set before the create event - very cool
and more, the release notes are well worth a read.
As ever, PLEASE check the Required SDKs FAQ before/during updating, and ensure your User/Antivirus Permissions and Internet Access Required by GMS2 are correct after you do the new install - before you submit any bug reports or post issues here, please.
You should post here if:
- Something has changed between the previous version and this one, breaking your game (i.e.: code that worked previously now does not)
- Something reported as fixed in the release notes is not actually fixed
- You are having IDE or system issues related to something new in this update
- You are having issues with new features introduced in this version
- You are having issues updating to this version
- Everything works and you want to tell us we are great (seriously, let us know if it all works correctly for you)
- If the issue is with the IDE, then please give a screenshot if you can to help illustrate the problem
- If there are error windows, then a link to the "ui.log" file found via the "Open Log in ..." Help menu command inside GMS2
- If it is a code issue, then link to or attach a YYZ showing the most basic project possible which exhibits the behaviour
- If you receive any error dialogues, please screenshot them
- If it is a system issue (like compiling to a specific target) then please provide details of the PC being used as well as the software versions involved
