They're three videos, where the first one covers buffers, second one...
I'm pretty sure this is trivial, since this is the first time I'm implementing networking...
Resizing swap chain...Error (0x 2740): Can't bind port
Setting SO_REUSEADDR and retrying...Error (0x 271d): Can't bind port even with SO_REUSEADDR
I can provide more code if it's needed but I don't...
Apologies for the vague title, but I honestly have no idea what's the problem so it's hard to name it. But I can give a description of what's going wrong. I'm working on a little test project to figure out networking a bit more. I start the game twice and have one be the server and...
I am working on a multiplayer game in GameMaker. The concept is close to a fighting game and so it's very important both players see the same thing happening at the exact same time. It takes a while for a buffer to be sent to the other player though. A lot of fighting games fix this by...
What is this?
My entry for the Ludum Dare 44 jam, Deathless World is a multiplayer dystopian simulator where your citizen’s lives are currency.
In this game, you play as one of the 9 countries that are part of the Global World Government (GWG for short) It has been decided that dying is...
I want to make a Real Time Multiplayer Battle game, for 2 players.
But i don't know how can i make that, can i make it so the networking will be between the two players, or i have to host a server, when two players want to battle?
So i'm trying to make a multiplayer game in the same vein of Multiplayer Four swords, or FF: Crystal Chronicles both for Gamecube/GBA but I would like to be able to make it for PC/Xbox/PS4/Switch and use a mobile phone as the second screen.
I can make the base game fairly easily, but no idea...

Gamemaker has networking features that make online multiplayer a possibility for my game. However, providing servers seems to be the challenging part. I've been looking into Amazon Web Services to see if there are any products that would support matchmaking for my game, and it's a...
I want you to present you my first uploaded game. It's a simple game, a clone based on the classic 1979 Asteroids, ASTEROID2 TOGETHER.
I've made this game as an homage to the original game for the 40th anniversary which will be this year. It's a recreation of the original experience...
Firstly, I have to say, that although I know that GMS2 has it's faults, I've absolutely LOVED working with it, especially coming from another engine that is nowhere near as well maintained, functional, powerful, or user friendly! Am I right, @Toque ? ;) Oh yeah, I also showed Toque my game...
So this week-end I took part in Global Game Jam 2019, in a team of 5 people. Please enjoy the resulting game: ÔMIZEL, a 2-player house chores simulator.
You can try it on itch: https://adriendittrick.itch.io/omizel
or on gamejolt: https://gamejolt.com/games/omizel/393717
I’m making my first split-screen couch multiplayer game; I’m currently looking to have some trees which obscure the players’ visions of characters go transparent *only* for the relevant pkayer’s camera.
So, for example:
Player 1 views the game through a viewport that takes up the top...
I just wanted to let everyone know about my new book that just got published, titled Developing Turn Based Multiplayer Games with GameMaker Studio 2 and NodeJS :) Please do check it out if it interests you!
Apart from the Apress website, you...
It's been a while, but to commemorate finally being able to afford GMS 2 I decided to get to work on a project that's been on my mind for a few years now.
My hope is to create an online multiplayer game, a card/board game mix, where you connect to a lobby, pick a room to join (or create a room...
With this project you can create an awesome local multiplayer game. Choose 2-4 players, select a level and play.
- Left stick for moving
- Right stick for aiming
- Right shoulder/trigger button to shoot
- Choose amount of players (2-4).
- Choose level ( 2 levels).
Just for some increased visual performance in a real-time multiplayer game I'm developing, I would like to "roll-back" positions and reapply all input in order for an elapsed amount of time based on how long a player's "input" packet took to arrive.
Basically, I will store a circular buffer...
Hi, me and a friend had an idea for a pvp game, we started working on it, but only recently found out that making it online multiplayer is said to be extremely hard since it has to be lag free.
Our game would be 1v1, is there an 'easy' way to make it online multiplayer, or is it difficult...
I've made a console that is similar to Window's CMD.
So it's all text based, and I decided to make a chat system so 2 of my consoles can chat with each other.
Note: The command ConsoleLog("", 0); Simply writes a message to the console. This is how I want the chat to display in the consoles.
I'm playing around with various controllers in a game that has coop, and noticed in the documentation, specifically this
"Also note that the Direct Input interface is run in cooperative mode which means that your game only has access when it is the foreground application, which in turn will...
