So there's already an art thread, but I was thinking that a lot of GameMaker users also seem to make music and sound and I couldn't find a similar thread on the topic. Now we can see if enough people also make music to make such a thread a good idea then :)

I guess I'll start, so here's a track I made for a GameMaker strategy/rpg game, I mix western and eastern music trends and instruments. It's the main theme in the game.

I look forward to hear what people make :)

Nice thread.

I've got some grindcore stuff I did a long long time ago. I'll see if I can find it and post something later. :-D

I have a soundcloud, although I haven't been particularly good about updating it.

Most of the tracks on there right now are work-in-progress stuff from Typhoon Unit.
Oh, and also,
Completely unrelated track. This is the boss theme from Dan Shredder in Hellzone, the game I worked on for my senior game production course at college. I'm inexperienced at doing rock/metal stuff, and I can't play guitar to save my life, but I think it turned out pretty good regardless.

@Ingemann That track was really nice! I liked the mix of strings with the plucked instrument (I'm not going to attempt to guess what it is... I know I'll get it wrong). Do you have a SoundCloud or something?

@Paul Levasseur Lovely as always.

my soundtrack is in the Soundcloud of my signature. i'm looking forward to your adoration and praises. :)

edit: oh 💩💩💩💩 Paul Levasseur we both have 35 tracks for our games! you should totally check mine out. mine are just piano tracks because that's the only instrument i know ... but i still think that most of the tracks are okay.

What software do you use to create music? Most DAW's give you a lot of different types of sounds to play with. I am mainly a pianist as well, but I use a lot of different instruments and sounds to add depth and variety to my compositions. I feel like your work could definitely benefit from having more than just a solo piano.

Nice and very creative.
Music. I have lots of that! What do you want to hear? How about something SNES inspired?

Is that a cello you're holding in that sc profile pic.. I would sure like to hear some of that :) Also a very creative track that one.

Thanks Ninety. The plucked strings are a banjo and a koto. I used to have a soundcloud. Now I just have a bit of a mess on youtube instead. You can find 3 old playlists here: http://ingemann-strunch.com/youtube.html

I don't know how to write music, so here is a song I wrote: (It's beat box)

Verse 1:
Boo boo BAH, boo boo BAH, boo boo BAH
Bim ba bim ba SHHHHHHHH bim ba bim ba SHHHHHHH
Boo booo SHHH boo boo BAH

Chorus:
Boosh bah boo, BOOOSH, bah boo!
boosh ba baang, boosh ba boo!
Boosh bah boo, BOOOSH, bah boo!
boosh ba baang, boosh ba boo!

Verse 2:
Boo boo BAH, boo boo BAH, boo boo BAH
Bim ba bah bah ba WISHHHHH bim ba bim bssssss
Boo booo SHHH boo boo BAH

Chorus:
Boosh bah boo, BOOOSH, bah boo!
boosh ba baang, boosh ba boo!
Boosh bah boo, BOOOSH, bah boo!
boosh ba baang, boosh ba boo!

Well I'll put my stuff here I guess.

As some will know I'm working on the soundtrack for Homestead, a game I'm helping @Lukan make. This is an older (slightly repetitive) track but it gives you an idea of what it might sound like: https://soundcloud.com/vyridian/first-snowflake

In my spare time, though, I like making more downbeat, ambient-style stuff. Here's two tracks I made for a university class. (They're streaming links, don't worry.)
https://app.box.com/s/jofzbh3uf7qdskpv5eea3wl7jhhzkbru
https://app.box.com/s/c6ncv437jqa4r6wwoncoywh9s1okpqst

(Both were made in a relatively short period of time, and there's some stuff I'd like to improve, but it communicates my normal style a little better than Homestead does.)

First snowflake.. Like the melodies and the mood a lot. Nice. Neat sound you got on the latter tracks too, they are of another depth and creates a very different mood indeed. Also nice.

I guess I also made this thread so people could throw in their latest music as they progress along. So here's a latest track - if a viking met a couple of american rappers in India and they stumbled over a shamisen and some other instruments, and they then made a track, then it probably would sound something like this.. The track is probably not safe for work.. But I guess that goes for a lot of hip hop and rap..

Gotta be more than 4-5 humanoids in here who makes music. I think this thread just needs a little push.

Yes they do sound great... @Lotias : When they are remixes, did you then make them from midi files or scores or by ear?

Anyway, here's a new one from me..

Jack of All Shades
This is my latest track. Fast paced, semi-dark trance. Perhaps I shall add more to it, but I think at this stage it's at least listenable. Criticism is highly valued.

Here's Star Bright.

I'm not an expert on status quo trance, but I'd say you got the melodies here, so what you might need is a bit more punch on the kick and perhaps a plugin like dblue glitch to make it dynamic and sparkling.

I create different types of video game music; from 8-bit to chip tune, it's a fair variety. Though, I've also created eerie music that I do desire to see game developers using! If you like scary ice cream truck music, you'd certainly like this.
