Hello people!

Here's a work in progress remake of SF2 using gameboy sprites.

To control player 1, use the arrow keys and LControl / Lalt. Player 2: ikjl for directions and RCtrl / Ralt for attacks.

I'm mainly doing this as a learning experience and as a way to iron out kinks in my fighting game engine so, might just polish up and add AI to the four fighters I've currently got and leave it at that.

Give it a spin and let me know what you think. Thanks :)

Update:
New version with work-in-progress AI for Ken. Pick Ryu or Chun Li in the select screen to play against him.

version 0.84
version 0.85

Video of the AI in action. Sorry about the ugly watermark:

Thanks!

Big update 0.85:

Code:
- AI got a lot more sophisticated, much closer to the real thing now.

- brought speed down to match original SF2.

- Ryu, Blanka, or Chun Li will all be pitted against AI-controlled Ken when you select them.

- fixed pain animations; they didn't play correctly before.

- fixed end of air attack-animations.

- fixed Blanka zipping across the screen if hit while doing his roll attack.

- fixed Chun Li's attack collision box for medium kick in air.

- tweaked air movement collisions to match the original game better.

- you can now block subsequent hits from Ryu/Ken's hurricane kick even if the previous hit connected.

- other minor bug fixes.

Also, I thought I might add a couple of fighters of my own to the mix eventually. Here's a little work-in-progress mockup of one of them:

These new characters look great you ever consider revamping this project to make it an original new fighting game. Huge potential here

That's the plan actually. I repurposed this engine into a SF2-fangame to polish it up and as a fun learning experience, but I'll be using it for my own game again eventually.
Here's a little mockup of that game:
