Windows problems running gamemaker...

when i open up gamemaker it gives me the error "The underlying connection was closed : the connection was closed unexpectedly".

I have tried adding it to the list of programs allowed by my firewall.
I have tried disabling my firewall completely.
I have no anti virus software installed.
I have tried reinstalling the game.
checked my username and password were correct.
Attempted to reboot my computer.

I have not been able to resolve the issue.

any ideas?

The same thing has been happening to me, and I've tried everything you've listed above. I just bought the full version of game maker 2 after using studio, and it sucks that I can't even use it. This has been happening to me for about 4 days.

I finally figured out what was wrong with the help of this https://help.yoyogames.com/hc/en-us/requests/136324?page=1

You can read that to know the details, but basically, try to look in task manager for anything that is running "realtime" it may not even be an antivirus.

The one for me was something called "BrowserSafer" I had to uninstall it completely for it to end its task, it might have been a virus, but now it's working for me fine.
