[Spine] Error importing JSON, using 3.7.94

Hello, all!
I've been using GMS2 + Spine for about 6 months now and just ran into an issue for the first time. I'm animating a very simple sprite as I've always done, exporting it the same way I've always done and GMS2 triggers an error when I try to import it, either by dragging and dropping it or by manually importing it onto an existing sprite.
I'm attaching the error message and also uploaded the whole sprite folder (with a .spine, the images and the exported .atlas and .json) here.

As stated in the title, I'm using runtime 3.7.94 and nothing gets logged by either Spine or GMS2's compiler.

Hello, all!
I've been using GMS2 + Spine for about 6 months now and just ran into an issue for the first time. I'm animating a very simple sprite as I've always done, exporting it the same way I've always done and GMS2 triggers an error when I try to import it, either by dragging and dropping it or by manually importing it onto an existing sprite.
I'm attaching the error message and also uploaded the whole sprite folder (with a .spine, the images and the exported .atlas and .json) here.

As stated in the title, I'm using runtime 3.7.94 and nothing gets logged by either Spine or GMS2's compiler.

Verify that your exported files are valid using Skeleton Viewer v3.7.94 to rule out any possible issues with the actual setup of your skeleton.

I see you are using skins and meshes so it would be worth checking with the viewer that all reports as okay and there isn't some setup issue with the actual skeleton that is causing it.

If it works fine in the viewer, then given the lack of any error message your only options are to report it and make a small new project to reproduce your steps, exporting at each stage and verifying that it imports correctly into GMS2 - until it doesn't and you can isolate the action that causes the issue.

I'd make a bug report now and attach your Spine project files, then update the ticket with any useful info found from further testing if I managed to narrow down the cause while YYG look into it.

If it is a bug however, I wouldn't expect a fix now as the v4.0 update is coming as soon as the runtimes are out of beta so I would assume they will wait for that to push any Spine updates to GMS2. Your report might prevent the same bug in the update though so is definitely worth filing a ticket.

I have 5 images on that project, and all of them have to be made into meshes. After I meshed one of them, I would export and test it on GMS2. It worked up until I meshed the last one. After un-meshing it, exporting again and testing, it went back to working. I can work around that easily, so it's no big deal.

I'll open up a ticket as you suggested, though I'm not sure whether it's a Yoyogames issue or an Esoteric issue. Hope it helps fix a bug either way!

Ah interesting, I don't think I've ever had a project where there wasn't at least 1 regular image so hadn't come across that issue.

A good few versions back had something similar where if all the attachments were turned off (ie. invisible) in the default setup pose then GMS2 wouldn't load them.
It was a UI system which was "off" by default and I found the issue exactly the same way I suggested - trial and error during a step by step repro due to zero error messages.

Glad you found the issue so quickly and yeah please report it.
I just loaded your exported files into the Skeleton Viewer and it worked without any issue, so it seems to be a GMS bug and reporting your edge case could prevent the same bug sneaking into the v4.0 update.

It'd be cool if you could post back here after YYG have replied to your ticket too, just an update as to what they said (whether they consider it a bug or not) and for anyone else who might stumble into the same issue and find this post at some point which may help them.
