Achieving a static pattern effect

Hey all!
I'm trying to achieve an effect where an object moves and displays a static pattern behind it.
like this: https://imgur.com/gallery/1du6zXI/new
I have been trying to achieve this with blendmodes, but with no success.
Can this be achieved with blend modes? If not then how could it be achieved?
Thanks :D

I'll check this video out and see if I can make things work.

The video uses a simple algorithm to create a pattern. If you're good at maths you csn of course create more cpmplicated algorithms. If you want to use a pattern sprite the video might not help enough though :(
