GameMaker Viewport not changing

Soooooo, I'm making a menu to my game and when I press the "New Game" option it goes to another room using "room_goto();", but, this room that i'm going to has a different viewport from the menu but it's not working. The viewport doesn't change, it keeps the viewport from the menu.
Can somebody help me?

Okay. Have you tried doing this in the target room?

if (!view_enabled)
    {
    view_visible[0] = true;
    view_enabled = true;
    }

 

[samspade]

Why is there a different viewport if there is a different room?
