I tried to download Cliffy B's lawbreakers to celebrate the New Year but it doesn't exist on steam anymore.

Only in 2018 are entire games deleted from download because a creator says so. It's sad that such a disasterpiece is not available to museums. I really wanted to play that game and was willing to spend 30 dollars but I guess I will never get to play the game for the rest of my life.

It is sad, he put his heart and soul into it and the masses don't appreciate what could have been a great and original fps. Google says its on Softpedia but I don't download things from that site. It's no longer on steam. Its sad I'll never get to play what is really a piece of history.

Is this your daily diary entry?
Unless you have either a copy of lawbreakers to sell to me, or something to say about lawbreakers, I consider this an act of hostility and derailing my thread.

Just wondering what the point of this thread is.

The creator decided to discontinue the game. Simple. :)

I made the thread to see how to obtain a copy of the game and play it. And also to discuss game preservation and stuff.

Then you should explain that in your post. And provide some thoughts about how to do so. And explain what "game preservation and stuff" means.

Otherwise, your topic is a pointless lament.

Even if you could legally obtain it, who else would also be around for you to play with?
Maybe get a party with some members of the gmc and have a go on it maybe a stream.

I thought pple would get the vibe. But yeah, discuss how to get the game, discuss how its lame how devs remove downloads of great games. Also discuss just how this happened and what went on in Cliffy B's mind.

As far as I'm aware, they yook down the servers for the game and I believe you can't even play multiplayet at all without them. So leaving the download up for a game you can't play doesn't make sense.
You mentioned you already know where to get a copy so I'm not sure what else there is to discuss there... only other alternatives are places like piratebay I assume.

Lan maybe? I don't approve of piratebay they have viruses, and its just an unethical website, unless you pirate soulless ea sports games. Even though many indie games are soulless I don't think its ethical to pirate them, because its indie. I am more than willing to give cliffy b my money, just let me get this game.

Noted, but I've been pirating since the dial up days and I have never gotten any viruses from movies or tv episodes(which admittedly I pirate a lot)

Huh.... this game never made much of a splash, but it actually looks... really good? It seems it might've failed more because people didn't feel the need to make Garry's Mod comedy videos or sfm porn of the characters than because of any gameplay problems, which is pretty sad...

Looks like it plays a lot like classic UT, for obvious reasons. If it does, that's some ridiculously tight gameplay, and it's a shame it died so quickly.

And...this is why I use my potato while browsing game jam games...

It seems okay, but not great. But as a historian I am concerned about the blatant censorship trends that seems to be going on, there seems to be a complete lack of respect towards the gaming community.

Basically, the gameplay seems like the same overly hyper movement of tired fps genre, repetitive luck-based gameplay without much strategy, complete with undersaturated colors and a tired, generic character roster.

@Misty: Have you never played Unreal Tournament before, or what?
I've played some of them, some of the originals and the newest one, Unreal 3, you can guess what I'm gonna say, it sucks, although to be fair I played it on console and almost all console FPS suck.

The originals on PC are great fun with mates, but I can't really comment on whether or not LawBreakers is as good as the old UT's. from the vids it doesn't look as good but I never got a chance to play and sometimes games can be fun even if the videos of it look iffy, that is why I don't like this new trend devs put videos instead of demos, games are not the same medium as movies and devs these days don't seem to understand, sometimes you can be bored watching a movie of a game even though its a really good game.

@Misty: Ah, okay. Yeah, UT is definitely made for PC. Probably sucks on consoles. The lead designer is the dame as the old UT games, and the gameplay looks very similar to me based on the video, so I imagine Lawbreakers was actually pretty fun.

I think the reason some devs don't like demoes is that it's easy to get bored of *demoes* of good games, maybe even moreso than with videos. That's up for debate though, and probably depends on the game. I did read before that demoes hurt sales overall in games, I think.

UT was ok, I could never completely get into it but I appreciated the design and how well they worked. Used to love that teleport gun thingy.

XD

You are ridiculous. I am constantly amazed by your responses. I almost feel like someone should make a documentary about you.

Most games nowadays are either passionless suckfests, or games made by adult babies. So naturally demos would reduce sales, once it shows how boring a game is. Or those other demos that provides full functionality of the game, committing the mistake of satisfying the player, not creating a "need" if the game isn't really that good.

Sometimes I feel the same way.

I'm still mad that the original version of Dark Souls was taken off Steam and the only version that is available for purchase is the Remastered edition.
It looks awful, they made it look like an MMO, somehow worse than DS2, nothing was fixed beyond what DSFix mod already had to offer.
Luckily, I still have the original in my library, but if I hadn't I would have to get a physical copy.

This came up in my feed recently. If you want the game just to own, that's one thing, but this should explain why you wouldn't be able to do anything with it anyway.

Surely it has lan support?

Guess not, he seems like one of those devs who doesn't care about his fans.
