TLDR: GMS2 programmer willing to work with an artist / writer / music composer with a game idea. Seeking to publish a small game. Short term (3 - 6 months) project.

Currently laden with tons of work.

Projects in progress:
  1. 2.5D Adventure Visual Novel Horror - On contract (start: 1st Feb 2018).
Hi everyone,

I am self-learn programmer (>10 years) highly proficient in C/C++ but a train wreck at artsy stuff.

Since August of 2017, I have started developing tech demos and testing game mechanics using GMS2. The experience I have gained has made me confident enough at building a fully flesh out game. I have picked up GMS1.x and Unity last year but GML is the language I want to work with when it comes to game development.

I have a Dropbox link here containing some Tech Demo I can share to the public domian. I will add more along the way once I cleared up some artwork licensing issues (mostly crediting and changing art assets to more CC friendly licenses).

Unfortunately, I lack ideas for both game and art so I am trying out my luck here if there is any artist / writer/ music composer with a game idea and needs a programmer to realize their game. The type of game project I would agree to develop would have to be a small game that can be developed and publish within a period of 3 - 6 months. I would prefer revenue share over commission as I am more keen at completing the game and having it published.

If you need my contacts to discuss your game idea please post a reply here or send me a pm.

Tech demos I am currently working on:
  • (Tech Demo) Keyboard settings and dual slot key binding menu - Demonstrates proper key binding and allowing two separate keys (or single key) to bind to a single action. Edit: Still sorting out graphics.
Tech Demo samples (download them here):
(Tech Demo) Light Sauce - Demo showing the difference between using a shader and GPU (blendmode).
LightSauce01.jpg LightSauce02.jpg

(Tech Demo) Quizzer - Demo about a quiz game made using surfaces, list, keyboard input, and tons of logic states.

My portfolio of games:
Maiveos - The Mask of Acknowledgement: https://altan0.itch.io/maiveos

I have a story, a direction and an indiegogo campaign. I can add you as a team member to it and we can share profit when the game releases as a buy to play game. Donations help me immensely with the design and pixel art for the game, so this is much dependant on how far the game will get. I need character designs and illustrations to keep the steam going. If you think I am the right pick, then note me.

Sorry to hear that, programming was never an easy task to begin with despite the game engine used. Hence why I started this post so I can help out the community as much as reasonably possible.

Hello there.

Your thread and position intrigue me as it nearly correlates with my current plans. I have been a modder and game design enthusiast for the past decade and I've more recently been interested in moving up to the next level to build my own games. If you're still available, I do have an idea for a project I'd like to work on which I can discuss with you. I specialize in game design specifically, but I'm also an experienced level designer and pixel artist/animator; all self taught or learned from mentors. If you're interested, but need clearer evidence of qualifications, I can provide examples of previous work which I'm about to compile for a thread in this forum. Let me know if you're still available.

I wouldnt mind a mentor, someone who can guide me. Im an artist, i tried learning coding but it just doesnt register.
I have an idea, platformer, with alot of cutscenes, a game that would make players laugh more than anything.
As an artist i would prefer to concentrate on art assets first, but i need someone to guide me in the right direction.

Hey RedRookLord, I would like to hear your idea as well and your experience background tells me you are pretty much a key person in any game dev team. As you have mentioned in the last sentence, it would be good for me but even better for other game developers so my suggestion to you would be to prepare a sort of CV (set up a gallery your past work, ensure to watermark and any license cleared for public domain) whether it be a thread here, a deviantart page ( link it to your thread), or a personal website (bigger artists have those).

You can start a conversation with me anytime in the forum if you like to discussion further about your project.

Hi Vxss57, if you need hints and clues to being a better programmer then I can advice you as a mentor. I could give accurate advice if you can share with me your coding issues.

You should discuss with me further about your platformer game (via conversation) since I like to see more fun and comedy stuff being created by indie devs.

Hi Altan0,
I have no coding experience, but have almost 20 years Casino experience. I'm looking to bring some new casino style games to market. My main game concept I've been working on could be used with online Lottery sales. If not a full working game, but a unique way to add players and sell the tickets for live play, would also be of interest to me. If this type project interests you let me know. Thanks
